Royal commentator Daniela Elser has expressed scepticism over recent reports suggesting Prince Harry is looking to return to the UK, claiming the Duke of Sussex is out of touch with such a move given his current lifestyle.
In his piece for News.com.au, Elser addressed the reports of the Daily Mail Prince Harry is distancing himself from Hollywood publicists and is seeking advice from old friends and associates. The report suggested an attempt to “bring our boy home,” implying a possible return to the UK for the prince.
However, Elser opposed this idea, stating: “Let’s keep in mind that the phrase ‘bringing our son home’ sounds like he is being held hostage, which is a massive dose of misogyny.” She argued that Prince Harry, far from being trapped, is “busy drinking oat milk lattes and pining over his wife who aspires to become a business empire” rather than facing any kind of repressive situation.
Elser also pointed out the significant omission of Meghan Markle from these discussions about Prince Harry’s future. “There is one word crucially missing from the Mail article: Meghan. What is the Duchess’s role in this plan to ‘rehabilitate’ the Duke?” she asked.
Given the difficulties Meghan faced during her time in the UK, including the extreme mental health issues she revealed, Elser finds it difficult to imagine a scenario in which the Duchess of Sussex would willingly return to such an environment. “I cannot imagine any scenario, however fantastical, in which the Duchess would willingly return, even very occasionally, to a life or role in the UK after having suffered to such an extreme degree that it left her suicidal last time,” Elser concluded.
With this in mind, Elser cast doubt on the idea of Prince Harry returning to the UK, suggesting that such a move would be too complicated and unlikely given the couple’s current situation.
