Social media users took to social media in droves to react to the news that Netflix’s hit series Emily in Paris has been renewed for a fifth season.
After Lily Collins made the exciting announcement on Good Morning America, fans of her romantic comedy series expressed their excitement and surprise that she would be returning to her role as aspiring marketing executive Emily Cooper.
“What visa does he have?” one joked.
Another insisted: “For my mental health there should be a new season of Emily in Paris every month.”
“I want to watch a new season of Emily in Paris every year until I die,” wrote a third.

Despite mixed reviews from viewers for the fourth season, which was split into two parts, it ranked number one on Netflix’s global Top 10 when it premiered in August.
According to Netflix’s Tudum site, the series garnered “19.9 million views in its first four days” and reached the top ten in 93 countries.
“We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris,” creator Darren Star told the site.

The second part of Emily in Paris’ fourth season arrived on September 12 and followed Emily as she strolled around the Italian capital, Rome.
Speaking about the new location, Lily revealed her hopes that she and the rest of the crew will get to see more of Italy next season.
“We explored Rome and I really hope that by season five we’ll get more of Italy,” he said.
“We had a great time. The whole cast seemed a bit like Emily in season one, running around the city with their eyes wide open and it was all very exciting.”

She also revealed what it was like working with France’s first lady Brigitte Macron after she made a guest appearance on the show’s fourth season.
“It was a huge honor,” he said. “It was also very surprising that she loved the show and wanted to be a part of it.”
‘She invited Darren (Star) and I to have a conversation with her a couple of years ago about the show and what it has done for France and for Paris.
“She did her cameo in the first part of the first season with a sense of humor and we all found a way for her to be a part of that and come on set and improvise and that’s how she and her improv made the show unique.”
The latest series followed the dramatic events of the failed wedding of Camille, played by Camille Razat, and Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo.
The French president’s wife, Brigitte Macron (center), also made a special cameo in season four.
In part one, Emily still had strong feelings for Gabriel and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), but Gabriel was expecting a baby with his ex, Camille, and Alfie’s worst fears about Emily and Gabriel had been confirmed.
“The chemistry between Emily and Gabriel is undeniable as they work together to achieve a Michelin star, but two big secrets threaten to undo everything they’ve dreamed of,” reads a synopsis.
‘As old patterns collide with new complications, Emily finds herself drawn to a potential new love interest…and a new town.’
In the second part, Emily’s return flight to Chicago is cancelled.
And although there’s nothing like home for the holidays, she finds herself stuck spending Christmas Eve with Gabriel and Camille’s family in Megève.
Emily’s new love interest, Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini, arrives shortly after and, after their first date in Paris, she goes to visit him in Rome.
The finale concludes with a big new opportunity for Emily: running an office in Rome, something Sylvie encourages Emily to take advantage of, not only to stay in beautiful Italy, but to be closer to her new man.
