Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes suffered a heartbreaking loss on Sunday night as he said goodbye forever to a beloved member of his family.

The radio star, 53, announced the death of her dog Barkly live on her Hughesy, Ed and Erin breakfast show on Monday morning, and shared footage of it on Instagram.

Choking up as he shared an emotional tribute to the elderly dog, Hughesy revealed that the rescued dog was 17 years old when he passed away.

‘Last night we lost our dog, Barkly, who has been with us for 17 years. Beautiful member of the family,” Hughesy said in an emotional moment.

I took him for a walk yesterday and he was fine. He was happy. He was sniffing. He was living his best life, there’s no doubt about that.

Hughesy went on to describe the fond memories he has of Barkly, saying the dog “loved life” more than anything.

‘What I will always take with me about Barkly is that he loved life. He loved every day. “She didn’t care at all about what he looked like,” he said.
