Craig Doyle was visibly emotional on his episode of Celebrity MasterChef

Craig Doyle was visibly emotional on Tuesday’s opening episode of Celebrity MasterChef.

The This Morning presenter, 53, joined Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby, radio presenter Edith Bowman, Steps star Ian ‘H’ Watkins and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here contestant Snoochie Shy in the BBC series.

During the first round, the celebrities were given a mystery recipe to bring to life and Craig was tasked with making gizzards.

Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace were impressed with her efforts; Gregg had previously warned her that the dish was one of his “favorites.”

Gregg said: ‘Those sweetbreads are perfect. They have a crispy interior, they’re deliciously soft and perfectly cooked sweetbreads. They have a citrusy bite on top and I think that’s a good thing.’

The sports presenter was very excited and a little surprised by the positive comments.

He said: “I didn’t expect it. I loved what they said and I’m very excited about it.”

Craig was even proclaimed the best chef of the episode and advanced to the next round.

Just before creating his winning dish, Craig was hoping his experience in live television would come in handy in the kitchen, but he wasn’t sure.

He said: “I do a lot of live TV broadcasts, you don’t know what’s going to happen next so you have to react and stay calm. I hope that helps but I’m forgetful.”

However, the TV star also explained that he spent a lot of time cooking at home for his wife Doon and their children.

She said: ‘I cook (at home). For the family, yes. I have four children. Quinn is 21, Muireann is 18, Milo is 13 and Elsa is 13. I have to name them all otherwise I’ll be in trouble.

Craig made sweetbreads, then haddock and an Irish pudding, and the judges were amazed by his culinary talent.

-But this is family cooking, it’s a little different, isn’t it?

Snoochie was the first to be eliminated from the show, failing to impress the judges with her culinary skills.

Among the rest of the star-studded cast battling to become the series 19 champion are model and TV personality Christine McGuinness and former EastEnders actress Danielle Harold.

Each celebrity will roll up their sleeves as they enter the kitchen, but only one will emerge victorious from this battle and earn the title of MasterChef 2024 Champion, following in the footsteps of last year’s winner Wynne Evans.
