The actress added that she was “thrilled” that original Scream writer Kevin Williamson will direct the seventh Scream film, his first time at the helm of the horror franchise.
“You can’t pick anything better. It’s going to be fun,” Cox said of the new installment of the beloved horror franchise directed by Williamson.
He added that there is no set timetable for deciding whether or not he will return to the franchise.
“They’re rewriting all the time. It’s not like I don’t know what’s going on,” Cox insisted, adding that she hopes they bring back her ex David Arquette.
Cox and Arquette married in 1999 and welcomed their 20-year-old daughter Coco in 2004 and starred in the first five films before their Dewey Riley was killed off in 2022’s Scream.
“I understand the reasons why they did it, but wow, what a missed character!” Cox said.
“Dewey is very beloved by Scream fans. They need to find a solution,” Cox added, though it’s unclear whether there are plans to bring him back or not.
There have been no official casting announcements since Neve Campbell’s return was revealed in March.
