Chelsea Handler admitted to mistakenly giving her dog the ADHD medication Adderall while on board a plane.
The comedian, 49, made the scandalous confession during an appearance on Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast.
In telling the story, Handler shared that she was flying back from Spain with her late dog Chunk when she tried to give the German Shepherd-Chow mix some melatonin to calm him down.
“I thought I gave him melatonin and I accidentally gave him Adderall because I had mixed up all my pills because I’ve been on vacation for quite a while,” she said.
“I had taken Xanax,” he continued, referring to the anti-anxiety medication.

Xanax, which Handler described as having a “sedative effect,” left her drowsy enough that she accidentally gave him Chunk Adderall instead of the popular sleep aid melatonin.
“Then I woke up and the flight attendant was shaking me by the shoulders and said, ‘Miss Handler, (your) dog is running around the first class cabin foaming at the mouth. We need you to get up and leave. him.”
And I was like, “What? I have a dog? What are you talking about?” And I walked over and there he was licking the side of the bathroom door.
When she got home, Handler finally realized she had given poor Chunk Adderall.
“And people ask me why I don’t have kids,” he joked.
Handler rescued Chunk from a kill shelter in 2009 and he eventually died in 2018.
Last year, Handler admitted that she was taking the diabetes drug Ozempic and had no idea she was taking it.

On the Call Her Daddy podcast, the comedian joked that her doctor “just hands out” the medication to “anyone” looking to “lose five pounds.”
‘I came back from a holiday and injected it. I went to lunch with a friend a few days later and she told me, “I’m not really eating anything. I’m so nauseous that I’m taking Ozempic,” she recalled.
Handler then noted that she was “a little nauseous, too,” but attributed the feeling to jet lag after a month-long vacation in Spain.
Handler’s friend then asked her if she was “sure” she wasn’t taking Ozempic, to which she responded, “I’m taking semaglutide.”
“That’s Ozempic,” her friend explained.
