While ITV bosses were looking for David to star in Ibiza Weekender, Matthew became a physiotherapist at Championship side Huddersfield Town.
Despite wearing identical outfits until he was 10, Matthew says he never wore fake tan and sadly didn’t inherit the same long legs as David, who flaunted his pins in a pair of shorts during the show’s launch on Monday night.
Matthew has revealed his pride in seeing David change Louis Walsh’s perception of his brother, saying people are often quick to judge but always end up loving his genuine personality.
He said: ‘We have followed two totally different paths.
“It’s something that happens to people when they find out who he is… I don’t go around shouting about it, but when people find out they’re pretty shocked and I always have to provide proof that we’re related because we’re not.” Don’t believe me, which is pretty funny.
“They put us in the same clothes and, like twins, they put us in the same bubble, but the reality is, and as we have shown, we are totally different people.

It wasn’t until David spoke openly about his sexuality that he was able to fully embrace his true self, an arduous struggle that Matthew admits has taught him a lot about the LGBTQ community.
He said: ‘David struggled with bullying. He went through a rough patch while he was growing up, but then he became who he is today and his confidence grew.
“It was hard for me too because I grew up with him being the way he was, and I never thought about it, and all of a sudden in high school with all the kids saying bad things about him… you just think, what’s wrong with him? And I don’t. nothing bad happened… today we are in a much more open and tolerant society.
“That’s why we’re also proud because he overcame that part of life and that made him the person he is now, he doesn’t care now and he’s very confident.”
“From my perspective, it’s been a huge learning curve and it’s given me a new appreciation for what he went through and as a community, what people go through when they grow up, the struggles they have, and it’s given me a greater understanding of that.” . The best way possible.’
Matthew says it’s not just their lives that have gone in different directions, but also their sense of style.
After wearing identical suits for a decade, Matthew recalls that David began experimenting with fake tanning, which, aside from his dazzling white teeth and bare legs, is how fans will recognize him today.
Matthew said: ‘It looks amazing! He has the best pair of legs I have ever seen on a man. I didn’t buy them… I have a halfway decent hairline and that’s it.
‘Tanning is not for me, I don’t mind sunbathing from time to time.
‘It all started when he came out more publicly with my family. He took a weight off his shoulders and was finally able to be himself, which was a humbling moment.”

David’s brother says it was a dream come true for the ITV2 star to be chosen for Celebrity Big Brother after he grew up watching the show.
He predicts that his housemates Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh “impressed” him because the X Factor was also a staple in their home on a Saturday night.
The family enjoyed David changing the mind of former judge Louis, who originally agreed with Sharon that he should be “in danger” of elimination after they analyzed the housemates during the first night from a secret room.
He said: ‘X Factor was big in our house growing up, so meeting Sharon and Louis will have blown you away.
“Obviously, with Louis, his perceptions of him weren’t the best at first, but he’s been himself and turned a corner with him straight away.
“He would love to win it and it would mean a lot to him.” He has every opportunity to do it because people will realize how real and honest he is. I think he resonates well with people.”
