It didn’t take long for Celebrity Big Brother star Gary Goldsmith to open up about his connection to the royal family as uncle to the Princess of Wales.
The 58-year-old businessman, Carol Middleton’s younger brother, spoke for the first time about his relationship with Kate during Monday’s launch.
And in the next episode, Gary will discuss his relationship with royals in greater detail as his co-stars Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne investigate.

Gary, who made millions owning a recruitment company, said: “I didn’t vote for it, it happened to me and suddenly all the spotlight is on you.”

Speaking about what he thinks about his nickname, he says: ‘They call me Uncle! Have you heard of a group? Bad guy, apparently all families have them.
Gary has been married four times and was convicted in 2017 of assaulting his fourth wife, Julie-Ann.
He pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating and was fined £5,000 and given a 12-month community order with 20 rehabilitation sessions.
Gary then admits, “Kate is hard to get a hold of at the best of times, and she has kids and I love the fact that she puts family first.”
Gary also confesses that he believes Will and Kate are both “the savior of the royal family” and the heirs to the throne.

He was the sixth contestant to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house during Monday’s explosive launch episode.

Gary joked: “She’ll hide behind the couch if she’s watching.”
Celebrity Big Brother’s Gary Goldsmith revealed his niece Kate Middleton will “hide behind the sofa if she’s watching” and became the sixth contestant to enter the house during Monday’s launch.
Gary is the brother of Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, and as Gary prepared to enter the house, host AJ Odudu wasted no time in asking him if his royal niece would be tuning in.
Gary, who is reportedly worth £30million, has enjoyed a close relationship with the Princess of Wales over the years and attended her wedding to Prince William in 2011.
Kate was a bridesmaid at Gary’s first wedding to sales executive Miranda Foote in 1991, and her uncle previously revealed how the heartbroken royal sought solace at his Ibiza villa after a split with William.
Kate will be away from official royal engagements until after Easter following major surgery in January, and Kensington Palace insisted last week that she was still “doing well”.
She has not been seen at any royal events since attending church in Sandringham on Christmas Day with William and her children George, Charlotte and Louis.
Gary is said to have told his friends he wouldn’t do anything to hurt Kate or William, but he previously attacked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and so they could now be in the line of fire.
The star also admitted that he hopes his time on Big Brother will allow audiences to see a different side of him.
He said: ‘I often read that people think I’m a bit bad. It would be wonderful to set the record straight, but annoying people is probably one of my favorite pastimes.
“Every part of me is riddled with mischief and danger.”

Speaking to hosts AJ and Will upon entering the house, he added: “I’ll take everyone at face value, but if they’re a little mean or a little rude, I’ll be the enforcer.”
Gary said exclusively Sun in January: ‘I spoke to Carole just to send her my love and we talked about Kate given what’s going on.
‘Many things happen during family time. So you’re spinning a lot of plates right now, it’s pretty stressful. So the last thing I’m going to do is cause them stress.”
He added: “I think she (Carole) will probably be watching me from behind the sofa, a little anxious, but I think if the best version of Gary shows up, she would be very proud of me, that’s what we were hoping for.” for!’
Gary has previously spoken out in support of Kate, including to the Mail on Sunday March 2021 following Harry and Meghan’s infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey.
He said at the time: ‘I’ve known Kate since she was born and she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. It’s just not in her nature.
‘She is even more beautiful on the inside than on the outside. If anyone had a fit, it must have been Meghan. Kate would have been trying to make peace. I would fight for Kate’s honor until the day I die. She is the most spectacular person I have ever met.’
He previously spoke out against Harry and Meghan after the release of Spare and is known for his outspoken opinions about the couple. Writing for the Mail last year, he criticized Harry’s autobiography, Spare, calling it “petulant, selfish… nonsense”.
