Ryan Gosling was asked to describe the rest of his life in just five words on Thursday’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS.
The 43-year-old Canadian actor received the challenge from host Stephen, 59, while taking The Colbert Questionert.
“Pass it to Eva first,” Ryan responded, referring to his partner Eva Mendes, 50.
Ryan recorded the segment for the network’s talk show as part of his media campaign to promote his new movie The Fall Guy.
Stephen told Ryan that his program had developed a “proven way to penetrate the crust of isolation that surrounds our hearts as human beings.”

He then asked the same 15 questions that other celebrities answered as part of The Colbert Questionert.
‘What’s the best sandwich?’ Stephen asked in the traditional first question.
“Ice cream,” Ryan responded.
“I see how this is going to be,” Stephen said.
‘Because you can eat all the sandwiches in the world and it would be a difficult decision. But the ice cream sandwich comes out and your mind is made up. The decision is made for you,” Ryan said.
“Do you lick the edges?” Stephen asked.
“That’s none of your business,” Ryan joked.
Ryan revealed that his first concert was Elvis Perry and explained that his uncle Perry used to perform as Elvis.
The 43-year-old Canadian actor referenced his partner Eva Mendes, who appeared together in September 2012 in Toronto, when asked to describe the rest of his life in five words.
Stephen told Ryan that his program had developed a “time-tested way to penetrate the crust of isolation that we wrap around our hearts as human beings.”

‘He was amazing. The best I have seen in my life. He put me in his actions. “I gave out teddy bears during Teddy Bear,” Ryan said.
‘What’s the scariest animal?’ asked Stephen.
“Man,” Ryan responded.
‘I’m wrong? Or the mosquito. It kills more people than anything else,” Ryan said, laughing.
“Apples or oranges,” Stephen asked.
Ryan said it was “hard” to choose between them.
‘Oranges help with scurvy and I don’t want that to happen again. You can make a hookah out of the apple,” Ryan said.
‘What do you think happens when we die?’ Stephen asked.

“We woke up,” Ryan said.
Stephen asked Ryan to name his favorite action move besides his new movie The Fall Guy.
Ryan first named the 1985 martial arts film No Retreat, No Surrender about a teenager who learns to fight bullies thanks to the spirit of Bruce Lee.
He then said that First Blood, starring Sylvester Stallone as Vietnam War veteran John Rambo, was his favorite.
“He just wanted to have a cup of coffee at that restaurant, Stephen.” He was just John and they made him be Rambo. They forced him to be Rambo. He didn’t want to be Rambo. He just wanted a cup of coffee, but he had long hair and he had to go out of town,” Ryan said.
“Favorite smell,” Stephen said.

He said dogs’ paws smell like popcorn or nachos.
‘And my dog George, who is no longer with us, had the perfect combination. “It was nachos and popcorn,” Ryan said.
—The first memory? Stephen asked.
‘My mom used to bake cakes as a sideline. And I remember one morning I woke up to the smell of a cake baking and I went into the kitchen and she made this wedding cake and she plugged it in and a waterfall came down. And she had built him a motor and there was water falling out of the cake and I remember thinking, ‘My mom is great,'” Ryan said.
‘If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life. What is it?’ Stephen asked.
‘Push it from Salt-n-Pepa. She hasn’t aged yet. And it’s great advice for life,” Ryan said of the New York City hip hop group’s 1987 song.
‘Whatever it is, you know. Push him. And then if you’re going to do it, try hard, try really hard,’ Ryan said.
