Bridget Jones 4 (Renée Zellweger in the 2004 film Bridget Jones - The Edge Of Reason) release date has been revealed

The release date for Bridget Jones 4 has been revealed.

The fourth installment of the acclaimed franchise, based on the books by Helen Fielding, will be titled Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, with Renée Zellweger returning as the witty spinster.

Production company Working Title shared an update on X on Friday after wrapping filming on the next installment and confirmed that it will hit theaters on Valentine’s Day.

A photo posted to his account shows a director’s chair in front of the iconic character’s home in Borough Market, with The Globe Tavern in the background.

“That’s all. See you on Valentine’s Day,” she wrote in the text.

The announcement comes after The Mail on Sunday revealed that Colin Firth‘s Mark Darcy will reunite with Bridget Jones after all.

When the actor’s name did not appear on the cast list, fans feared his character had been killed off.

In Helen Fielding’s novels, after marrying Bridget, he dies while working abroad as a human rights lawyer.

However, in exclusive photos from the set of Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, Renee is seen lovingly interacting with her co-star Colin.

Given that Fielding’s novel Mad About The Boy featured Bridget living life as a widow four years after Darcy’s death, Firth’s return is a huge surprise, one that the film’s directors were desperate to keep secret.

A source said: ‘Colin was always going to appear in the film, but it was supposed to be a secret.’

In the final film, Bridget Jones’s Baby, she is seen attending the funeral of her other on-again, off-again love, Daniel Cleaver, played by Hugh Grant, who is presumed dead after a plane crash. He is later found alive.

Fans will have to be patient to find out if Darcy will be so lucky or will simply appear in a dream sequence.

The Mail on Sunday revealed earlier this year that Jones will face a three-way battle for her affections between Cleaver, a much younger man called Rockstar, played by One Day heartthrob Leo Woodall, and 12 Years A Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character Mr Walker.

Bridget, now a mother of two, falls for Mr. Walker, who teaches PE at her son’s school, before turning her attention to the handsome Rockstar, whom she meets on social media.

The Mail on Sunday previously revealed that Bridget will be ditching her famous bachelorette pad in London’s Borough Market in favour of a family home in leafy Hampstead, north London, where so many scenes have been filmed in recent months.
