Harry Garside is taking a unique approach to his training ahead of the Paris Olympics.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the professional boxer, 26, admitted he enjoys fasting during long flights, calling it a “good mental challenge.”
In his post, Garside shared a photo of himself on a plane as he prepared for a trip from Manchester to Sydney.
‘You know what I love to do. Fast when doing big flights,” she wrote.
“It’s very difficult to sleep on flights, so just sitting there bored and restricting all your food options is a huge mental challenge.”

“The next time I’ll eat will be when I land in Sydney,” he added.
Last month, Garside admitted that he feels incredibly anxious about his 85-day self-imposed vow of chastity, made so he can focus on the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The professional boxer told Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick that he had some reservations about whether he made the vow for the right reasons.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Garside revealed his unique approach to flying as he prepared for a trip from Manchester to Sydney.
“I’m very nervous, 85 days is a long time, but you have to do what you have to do if you want that gold medal,” he began.
‘I don’t know if I do it for good reasons or if I have problems. I think about both a bit to be completely honest.’
The Melbourne-born boxer successfully completed a similar challenge while competing at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, to get himself in the right headspace.
“The next time I’ll eat will be when I land in Sydney,” he revealed.
“We all have desires and things we want to do, including what we’re talking about, but if we can refrain from the things we want to do, the stronger I feel mentally,” she said at the time.
“I think it helps my mental performance, which I think is the most important thing.”
Harry previously spoke to The Project about his plans for the Australian boxing team to take home four Olympic gold medals this year.
‘We are going to win several, I will be one of them. We are going to win a lot, I call it four medals,’ he began.
“I think we have a great opportunity and, heading into the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, hopefully we can inspire some people.”
After winning bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Garside has made no secret that he will be seeking Australia’s first Olympic gold medal in boxing, competing in the sport’s lightweight division.
