A shocking video captured the moment a man was allegedly suffocated and left unconscious on a pavement in a vile overnight attack.
The video, posted on Reddit, appears to show a group of young men and another man, dressed in a white shirt, fighting on York St in Sydney’s central business district.
A young man can be seen pushing the man, who then speaks to the group before another man walks up behind him and puts his arm around his neck.
The man appears to be in pain and struggling as the other man holds him.
The group then walks away and the video again shows the man lying on the sidewalk, apparently unconscious.
Video captures an alleged assault on York St in Sydney. A group of young people were seen fighting with an elderly person, before one pushed him and another grabbed him from behind.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said they were aware of an incident on York St on Saturday night.
“Last night at around 10pm police were called to a licensed premises on York Street, Sydney, after receiving reports of an assault,” he said on Sunday.
“Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and spoke to a 33-year-old man who had reportedly been assaulted during an altercation with a group of men on the street.”
Police said the man suffered facial injuries and was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment.
“An investigation into the incident is underway,” the spokeswoman said.
York Street is a major thoroughfare in Sydney’s central business district running from City Hall to Lang Park.

The alleged act of violence, which was posted on the Sydney subreddit late on Saturday, has left social media users disgusted.
‘Just another night in Sydney. “I don’t go out to the CBD because you see this shit all the time,” one person wrote on the platform.
“Hopefully there are plenty of CCTV cameras so the police can make quick decisions,” said another.
The video lasts 28 seconds and does not detail the moments before the fight or what was said between the parties.
