The beloved Australian cartoon featured the queer couple in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.
In the season three finale, titled ‘The Sign,’ some viewers noticed a subtle hint that Bluey’s friend Pretzel (pictured center) has two moms. A few minutes into the episode, Pretzel said, “When my guinea pig ran away, my moms told me he might come back, but he didn’t.”
Describing it as a “blink and you’ll miss it” moment, Margie said she didn’t notice it at first either.
‘When I first saw the episode, I missed it. “It wasn’t until I went back and watched it with subtitles and listened to it that I realized we had our first gay couple,” she said.
Margie also pointed out that the subtitles show the plural “mothers,” not the word “mom,” further confirming that Pretzel has same-sex parents.
‘I love it, I think it was a really nice and organic way to do it. It’s really one of those subtle ones that I feel like a lot of people will miss. But overall I thought they handled it very well,” he added.

It comes as Bluey fans panicked after being urged to rewatch five main episodes of the children’s cartoon before the show’s ‘giant finale’ on April 14.
While you don’t see the couple in the episode, the inclusion was praised by hundreds of people and spread like wildfire on social media.
“This makes me very happy,” one commented, another said: “Finally! It’s the only thing Bluey was missing.
‘I realized this, but I needed to communicate it to my wife. “I’m glad it finally happened,” added a third.
“I loved how they put that in so casually and organically,” another added.
