People have been sharing their funny stories of how their parents abandoned or forgot them when they were young.
This comes after Amir Khar made a parental mistake when he sent his car to a valet parking facility but forgot he had left his daughter in the back.
Former boxing champion Amir, 37, shared a video on social media after realising he had left his six-year-old daughter Alayna in the back seat of his £120,000 Range Rover after leaving the car with a valet in Dubai.
Amir filmed while waiting for the driver to bring the car back, telling the camera: “I sent the car to a valet, guess what? I left my daughter in the car, boss.”
When the back door was finally opened, little Alayna was seen in the back seat, looking very unimpressed and holding a pink mobile phone. The video, which no longer appears on Amir’s social media, ends with the father and daughter walking away hand in hand as the driver repeatedly apologised.

She is not the first celebrity to forget one of their children: in 2012, then-Prime Minister David Cameron made headlines when he accidentally left his then-eight-year-old daughter Nancy in a pub.
The politician, who was enjoying Sunday drinks with his family near Chequers, only realised his eldest daughter had gone missing when he returned to his official country residence.
The Camerons had been drinking at the Plough Inn in Cadsden, Buckinghamshire, with their three children and two other families. As they were about to leave, Nancy went to the toilet without telling them.
The Prime Minister was driven back to Chequers, which is two miles from the pub, by security officers in one car, while Mrs Cameron took her other children in another.
Mr Cameron assumed Nancy was in the car with his wife, while she thought her daughter had gotten in with the Prime Minister.
At the time, a spokesman said Cameron was “distraught” when he realised what had happened. They later confirmed Cameron returned to the pub to pick up Nancy.
“Luckily, when they called the pub, she was there safe and sound,” the spokesman said.
When Mr Cameron returned to the pub he found his daughter happily helping out the pub staff. It is believed she had been left alone for 15 minutes.

Several people have shared their own stories of being forgotten by their parents, including one who was abandoned outside a local store.
A Downing Street spokeswoman said the following day that the Camerons took full responsibility for looking after their children and did not blame security officers for failing to ensure Nancy was with the group before they returned to Chequers.
Another celebrity accused of forgetting her daughter was Kim Kardashian. In 2014, the reality star was filmed leaving the Le Royal Monceau hotel in Paris without her daughter North, who was one year old at the time, and heading to her SUV that was waiting to take them to the airport.
Minutes later, she was seen returning to the hotel, where she emerged carrying the baby, leading people to accuse her of forgetting her child the first time.
However, she strongly denied the allegations and took to X (then Twitter) to explain that she first went out without North because she was troubleshooting an issue with her daughter’s car seat.
She wrote: ‘I heard a story on the radio today: I forgot my daughter at the hotel when I was leaving for the airport. Are you kidding me? Haha!
‘I went to the car to make sure the car seat was on because we had an issue with the car seat the day before.
‘Do you really think a one-year-old would be alone in the lobby? Oh wait! I was waiting to pay, lol.’
Amir Khan’s misfortune prompted many people to share their own similar stories.
Commenting on the story, one person said: “My mum left me outside the local shop in my pram in the 80s haha. I was barely 2 weeks old. She came home and my dad asked where I was. I was her firstborn and I guess she completely forgot she had a baby hahahahaha.”
Another added: “Not that it sounds much like this story but it was a family legend that my mother would take me in my Silver Cross pram to the library to change her books. This was back in the 50’s when it was safe to leave your baby outside for 5 minutes and I would be asleep. My mother walked a mile or more to my grandmother’s house who asked my mother ‘where’s the baby?’ Panic broke out, the neighbour had a car and drove my mother back. I was still there and still sleeping.
‘Those were different times, there was no harm and there were no accusations of child neglect. Just a mortified young mother.’
Among their stories of being left behind, one person revealed they were left in a fish and chip shop, and another outside a library.
Meanwhile, a third shared their own story: “My mum once forgot me in the fish and chip shop – as well as what my mum had bought me, I got a free fish cake and the owner and other customers stood there begrudgingly whilst we waited for me to come back. I had a great time! Another 80s story. It seems like there were a lot of us!”
And a fourth said: ‘Many years ago, some friends of mine came to visit me to “show off” their newborn baby. I was living in a flat at the time. They came through the door, we sat down, they had their three children with them, and then I asked, “Where’s the baby?” The mother and father looked at each other and repeated, “Where’s the baby?” We ran out onto the balcony and there, on the pavement, next to their parked car, was the baby in a cot! Dad thought Mummy had the baby, Mummy thought Daddy had the baby. I don’t know how they missed the baby while using the lift!’
Meanwhile, on other social media, people shared their own stories. One Quora user wrote: “I was left in a laundromat when I was 6 months old. My mom thought my grandma put me in the car. My grandma thought my mom did it. They got halfway home and realized I wasn’t there. I was obviously on top of a washing machine, sleeping.”
A couple of parents have revealed their own guilt over neglecting their children, revealing how easy it can be to make that mistake and how much they regret it.
Another commentator said: ‘I’m not sure how old I was at the time, just that I had gone to the bank with my dad, I was playing and I looked around to realise he was nowhere to be seen.
‘Apparently my dad had left the building, was walking towards the truck and turned around to see me standing in front of the bank door crying.
“It was a complete accident on my father’s part, and if he took me somewhere, he always made sure to keep an eye on me after that.”
And another admitted she had forgotten one of her own children, saying: ‘I had a six-week-old daughter and a 17-month-old son. It was my first time out with both kids and we went to the grocery store. I remember it was snowing and cold. I put my daughter in her car seat on the roof of my car while I buckled my son into his seat; I got in the car and put it in drive. Thank God I remember my daughter on top! She was fast asleep and fine. I think I had a nervous breakdown. I still feel guilty 34 years later.’
In a similar account, another person revealed: “When my son was about three we were at Walmart. He had somehow hidden under a coat rack and I thought he had gone with his dad. His dad thought he was with me. We didn’t realize he was gone until we met up with him at the truck. We were scared to death. From then on he was put in the cart every time until he was old enough to hold onto the cart like his older sisters.”
According to several Reddit users, their parents also forgot them when they were young.
Meanwhile, on Reddit, others shared their stories of being accidentally abandoned by their parents, with one user writing: ‘My mother left me in the middle of a hotel lobby in central Hong Kong when I was 5.
“I don’t remember exactly what happened next, but she told me she was halfway to the airport before she realized I wasn’t with her. All I remember is how high and ornate the ceiling in the lobby was.”
Another revealed: “Once when I was in fourth grade, my parents worked late thinking they had asked the other to pick me up. I stood on the school’s driveway until 5 p.m., sheltering from the rain under an overhang just outside the main office. The teachers didn’t ask questions and my mother came home and panicked. After that, I took the bus.”
And a third said: “Once when I was a baby, my mom had to go shopping. She packed all the baby stuff into the car (the diaper bag, bottles, car seat, stroller, etc.) and drove off. Within about two minutes she realized she had left me at home, so it wasn’t that bad, but I like to tease her about it.”
Another poster simply wrote: ‘The McDonald’s playground was up for almost an hour. I didn’t even notice.’
