Spinnakers sits in an elevated position on a hill in Marazion, Cornwall

A stunning Art Deco-style home overlooking the Cornish coast has hit the market and could be yours for £1.45million.

The house, called Spinnakers, stands in an elevated position on a hill in Marazion, Cornwall, overlooking St Michael’s Mount.

It has stunning views of the island and castle from the roof terrace and even has a rotating capsule offering panoramic views of the coast.

Smart layout means almost every room in the house has views of Mounts Bay.

The property was designed by award-winning architect Barrie Briscoe in 2004 and was purchased by the current owners in 2018.

The upper floor has an open plan kitchen/dining room, separate lounge, office and bathroom.

The roof terrace can be accessed from the top floor and features a spin table and pool table.

The capsule can “comfortably” accommodate up to seven people and rotates to move “in the sun, in the shade or out of the wind.”

On the ground floor there are three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a laundry room.

The semi-basement floor is designed as an independent annex that could be used as a vacation rental or granny flat.

The annex has a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/living room.

The £1m property has gardens to the side and rear, a pond and parking for at least three cars, plus a garage.

Jason Fletcher, of Rohrs & Rowe, who is selling the property, said: ‘Spinnakers is a unique Art Deco style house with probably the best views of St Michael’s Mount, particularly from the roof terrace.

‘There are other properties on the hill but not as high as this one. Consisting of three floors with a roof terrace and views across Mounts Bay and towards the Lizard Peninsula, it is a truly iconic home.

‘You have the capsule on the roof so you can continue enjoying the views even when it’s cold at night or in winter. And there’s a very different pool with views, with a pool table on the roof terrace.

‘In all the homes on the upper floors there are windows and from there there are also excellent views.’

St Michael’s Mount is a tidal island, linked to the town of Marazion by a granite cobble causeway which is only passable at low tide.

This popular tourist attraction is managed by the National Trust, and the medieval castle and chapel has been the home of the St Aubyn family since around 1650.

It has been used as a film filming location several times, including the 1979 film Dracula, 2003 Johnny English, and in 2021 for the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon.
