Susan Lucci confessed that she has become addicted to watching Bachelor Nation shows, but has no interest in joining the franchise.
In an interview with PeopleThe All My Children star revealed that she once had the chance to look for love on The Golden Bachelorette, but turned it down.
“I think they contacted my publicist and it wasn’t for me,” Lucci, 77, explained.
And even though she didn’t feel like the job was right for her and her personality. She shared that she loved watching the debut season of The Golden Bachelor, starring Gerry Turner.
‘I saw The Golden Bachelor. I really enjoyed watching The Golden Bachelor. This is a new addiction for me.”
Susn Lucci, 77, revealed she was approached to be the lead on The Golden Bachelorette, but she declined, saying: “It wasn’t for me.”
Lucci went on to say that her assistant convinced her to watch the Bachelor franchise and since then she became instantly intrigued with the shows over the course of several seasons.
“I committed immediately. I cared about it. “I wanted to know more about these people,” she said of his opinion on the reality show.
While Lucci had no interest in joining the franchise, he did open the door for Joan Vassos to get the job.
ABC and Warner Bros. did not comment on the casting news. But a source told People that Lucci was never offered the role.
The network would eventually announce the hiring of Vassos, 61, as the first Golden Bachelorette, during the 2024 Disney Upfronts in New York City on May 14.
Vassos shared her reasoning for accepting the offer to be the Golden Bachelorette during an appearance on the Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour podcast.
‘I really want love. “I want to have someone in my life,” she said. ‘I feel like life is better when you share it with someone. I really believe all that.’
“As far as my heart being completely open, I think it’s nine-tenths of the way there,” the Rockland, Maryland, native continued. “So, I think I need to spend a little more time in an environment like The Bachelor.”
While Lucci had no interest in joining the franchise, he did open the door for Joan Vassos, 61, to get the job.

Vassos was no stranger to the Bachelor franchise, having appeared as a contestant on Gerry Turner’s season of The Golden Bachelor. However, his journey to find love was cut short when he decided to retire from the series to deal with some family issues.
The decision to make a female-led version of the senior dating series came after The Golden Bachelor ranked as the No. 1 new unscripted series in its season among adults 18-49, according to ABC. The show also marked ABC’s #1 unscripted series premiere on Hulu.
