Neah Evans suffered a major blow to her gold medal hopes in the women’s omnium after crashing during the scratch race.
The Team GB star lost control while riding between two other riders and ended up in last place.
Evans, who already has a silver medal from Paris, will undergo concussion protocol before the ominium continues later.
It was feared she had hit her head in the crash, but she was able to get up, get back on her bike and finish the race, although she was last out of 22 competitors.
The winner of the omnium will be the one who manages to obtain the most points throughout the first four races, and her fall in the first race has presented a tough challenge for her to enter the medal race.

He lost control of his bike while between two cyclists and fell to the ground.
He managed to get back on his bike and finish the race, but he has an uphill challenge ahead of him: getting a medal.
Evans (left) already has a medal from the Paris Games with a silver in the women’s Madison.
She had previously claimed a silver medal alongside Elinor Barker in the women’s final in Madison on Friday.
Evans was not the only Team GB athlete to suffer a crash on Sunday, as Hamish Turnbull was involved in an unfortunate collision in the men’s keirin.
Germany’s Luca Siegel went down first and clipped Turnbull’s rear wheel, sending him spinning into the barrier before crashing to the ground.
Both drivers managed to get to their feet, although Turnbull appeared to be in discomfort as he left the track, his suit torn at the back.
His accident prevented him from reaching the men’s keirin final.
Evans and Turnbull become the latest Team GB athletes to be involved in accidents, although not as controversial as the one suffered by Ollie Wood on Saturday.
Wood appeared to be headbutted by Dutch rival Jan Williem van Schip.
With just 39 laps remaining, Wood was suddenly catapulted into a heavy crash after his helmet was hit from behind by Willem van Schip.
Television replays did not allow us to conclude whether the contact was deliberate, although things looked bad inside the velodrome, as the collision left Woods lying on the boards.

The Dutch team was disqualified and Willem van Schip was fined 1,000 CHF (720 GBP) for “inappropriate conduct and behaviour endangering another rider (helmet strike)”, the stewards decided.
After limping into the interview area with a badly swollen knee, he said: “He hit me so hard I felt like a crash test dummy.”
“I will survive. I didn’t see anything.”

Wood added: “It’s a bit different when you get hit from behind, you don’t see it coming. There are a lot of people resting and driving at the same time. Instead of taking a high line around the track, I thought I would cut it a bit thinner and just crash into myself.
‘I haven’t seen him again. I’m trying to catch my breath. I have no idea, absolutely none. All I know is that I was hit very hard from behind by the biggest driver on the track.
‘At one point, everyone’s cognitive functions started to decline rapidly; you could see that there were people who had problems concentrating. When there are people everywhere on the track, it’s inevitable that people will bump wheels or something.
‘I don’t know what I’ve done, but my knee hurts a lot and my butt hurts a lot.
“I feel like I’ve been hit from behind by a truck.”
