Beloved chef Shaun Brady was killed outside his own business in Kansas City as he tried to stop thieves from breaking into his car, authorities say.
Brady, 44, was shot and killed Wednesday night outside his Irish restaurant, Brady & Fox Restaurant & Lounge, in the Brookside neighborhood.
He was taking out the trash when he encountered several people standing in a park. The interaction between the two ended in a shootout, authorities said.

‘Shaun was the head chef and creator of the Kansas City Irish Breakfast, a joyous tradition that followed our Catholic Mass on the Sunday of the festival weekend.
‘Although the Kansas City Irish Fest will be held this weekend, we have decided to cancel the Irish Breakfast to give those who knew and loved Shaun a chance to come together and remember him.’
Brady owned and operated his Irish restaurant with his friend and chef Graham Farris.
