A 12-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car on Main Road, Glenorchy, in Hobart’s northern suburbs.

Tasmania Police and emergency services were called to the scene near Cosgrove High School shortly after 3pm today, after reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle.

“Despite attempts by emergency services, the child sadly died at the scene,” police said in a statement.

“Our thoughts are with the child’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

Forensic and accident investigators were at the scene on Friday afternoon and police said their investigations were continuing.
