Australian Idol star Courtney Murphy has been diagnosed with late-stage bowel cancer.
Courtney rose to fame in 2004 on the hit singing competition when she finished in third place behind winner Casey Donovan and runner-up Anthony Callea.
The beloved singer’s brothers, Kieran and Chris, shared the devastating news via a GoFundMe page to raise money for Courtney as she prepares to fight the disease.
“Our beautiful brother Courtney Murphy is in the fight of his life,” his family began on the fundraising page.
‘It is with great sadness that we share that Court has been diagnosed with advanced stage bowel cancer. He is very serious.

‘Many of you will know Courtney for her incredible musical talent and great voice. We think it’s fair to say he’s been entertaining Western Australians for the best part of 30 years, whether as a wide-eyed kid on Australian Idol, on stage in We Will Rock You or simply playing with us, his brothers, in Murphy’s Lore and The Murphy Brothers,” the heartbreaking statement continued.
‘As a self-employed musician with a wife and three young children, Courtney will not be able to work for the foreseeable future, leaving her young family struggling much harder than we want.
‘Anyone who knows Courtney knows that her heart is as big as her voice and we have created this GoFundMe page in the hope that we can ease some of the burden on her young family.

As of Sunday night at 9:40 p.m., Courtney’s GoFundMe has raised $48,462.
The shocking news follows the Murphy family who lost their father to brain cancer three months ago.
“As a self-employed musician with a wife and three young children, Courtney will not be able to work for the foreseeable future, leaving her young family struggling much harder than we want,” the statement continued.
