Karan Johar and Salman Khan’s professional partnership seems to have hit a major hurdle. The stars, who were planning to work together for director Vishnuvardhan’s film Taurus, reportedly no longer work together. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, this decision came about because Salman opted out Taurus, an army film produced by Karan’s Dharma Productions. The film was initially set to open in November 2023, but faced several delays, pushing the film back to January, then February, and finally May. After several discussions, Karan asked for more time till July, but Salman decided to prioritize Sajid Nadiadwala’s film instead. Sajid’s film with filmmaker AR Murugadoss is all set to start shooting in May 2024, while Karan plans to start shooting for Taurus in November 2024.

The entertainment website also quoted a source as saying, “After much back and forth on the dates, Karan (Johar) and Vishnu (director Vishnuvardhan) were still unable to commit to the exact timelines of the shoot. That’s when Salman announced his decision to pull out of the project. Salman politely informed Karan about his decision. Bhai (Salman Khan) said, ‘Destiny doesn’t want this film to release, so let’s move on.’ Karan is exploring newer ideas for a collaboration with Salman.”

“He (Karan Johar) could have another go Taurus a reality, but at the moment the army film on Salman’s side is shelved. If Karan can commit to a certain timeline on paper, he might come back and try his luck at relaunching the project,” the source added.

Karan Johar has always been vocal about how Salman Khan helped him by taking on a role that many others had turned down. Salman did this by portraying the character of Aman Mehra in Karan Johar’s directorial debut, Cough Cough Hota Hai. Even on the superstar’s 58th birthday last year, Karan expressed his gratitude towards Salman by sharing the anecdote in a detailed Instagram post. The filmmaker wrote: “25 years ago I was lost and confused at a party… A huge movie star came up to me and asked me why I was standing at a corner… I told him I had been with several actors before. a role, but was politely turned down… The superstar’s sister is close to me, so he kindly said that she had spoken highly of my script and that I would meet him the next day to tell him about the film.

“I went with a prayer in my heart and a deep desire for a miracle and narrated the first part of the movie as if my life depended on it… He looked at me at the interval point (by which time I looked like I was at the point was the Sahara desert and the water could keep me alive) kindly offered me water and said I was coming along. I was perplexed and said: but you’re in the second half, you haven’t heard it yet? He said, I love your father and my sister will kill me if I don’t do this film, and that’s how Salman Khan was in it KKHH…I am extremely grateful to Alvira and my father’s goodwill for ensuring that I had the perfect Aman and Salman Khan in my debut film,” Karan Johar added.
