Former banker Marty Dolan launched a long-shot primary bid against Rep. Ocasio-Cortez in New York's 14th District

Wall Street investor Marty Dolan, who boldly takes the plunge Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the Democratic primary, credits rampant crime like subway shootings as a driving force behind his decision.

The seasoned Wall Street investor and ‘moderate Democrat’ hit out at the 34-year-old congresswoman’s ‘radical’ policies and highlighted the crime that permeates the streets of what was once hailed as the world’s greatest city.

After launching his bid, the former banker appeared on Fox News holding up a copy of the New York Post headlined ‘Hell Ride’.

He said New Yorkers are getting a complete lack of confidence on the streets and that ‘enough is enough’ and there is a lot of discontent in the district.

“This is what you get on the subways,” he told Fox News on Friday. ‘That’s what you get on the street.

‘You get a complete lack of confidence and comfort in what is supposed to be the best city in the world. So the standards have just gotten too low and things have slipped. And enough is enough.’

Dolan criticized the AOC’s Green New Deal, opposition to Amazon building its second headquarters in Queens and over New York’s migrant crisis, saying she is ‘putting headlines first and voters second.’

“There’s a lot of discontent in the district,” he told Fox. ‘A lot of what AOC has done has been very good in the headlines but not so good on the street.’

“So whether it’s the Green New Deal, whether it’s the Amazon deal, whether it’s the immigrants coming in and receiving benefits meant for voters, she really puts the headlines first and the voters second,” he added . .

Dolan told Fox News that he is a moderate Democrat and said the left wing of the Democratic Party is too far to the left. He said his main focus will be the quality of life for New Yorkers, as the feeling of the city has become “too out of control.”

‘New Yorkers have seen it all, including the scam offered by the Radicals. But we know better that New Yorkers want NYC to be the best city in the best country in the world,’ he said on his website.

Dolan is challenging Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez in the Democratic primary election for New York on 14 Congress’s District seat.

He boasts a career spanning four decades in the global risk insurance industry, serving as a financial advisor, strategist and investor, according to his campaign website.

He comes from a household of nine siblings and spent his early years in the small village of Irvington, located in Westchester.

His father, an immigrant from Argentina, dedicated five decades to a thriving medical practice in the community, according to his campaign website. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Dolan’s experience as a strategist, investor and financial advisor has been focused on the global risk insurance industry, particularly in navigating crises such as the global liability crisis, the aftermath of the WTC attack, Hurricane Katrina and the global financial crisis.

He has three grown children, two grandchildren and a network of relatives spread throughout New York.

Dolan launched a long-shot bid to unseat Ocasio-Cortez, who represents a district that includes parts of Queens and the Bronx in New York City.

He had originally decided on a challenge against Rep. Jamaal Bowman (DN.Y.) in New York’s 16th Congressional District, but chose to switch districts after George Latimer, a New York executive, entered the race, as reported by Bloomberg.

The 14th District is a safe blue district. Ocasio-Cortez won re-election in 2022 with overwhelming support.

The congresswoman first made national headlines in 2018 after unseating a longtime husband in the Democratic primary, and at 29, she became the youngest women ever elected to Congress.

She was re-elected in 2020 and 2022, most recently 70 percent of the vote in recent midterms.

The proud progressive Democrat is a member of ‘the team’ and has been a fierce advocate of the Green New Deal, Medicare-for-all and other liberal priorities.

But she has also been known to toe the party line, voting with Democrats on compromise deals struck with more moderate members of the caucus.

She has also thrown her support behind President Biden for re-election, touting his legislative record since taking office.

Her primary challenge comes as New York City has faced a cost-of-living crisis as well as an influx of migrants that has strained the city’s resources.

And while overall crime in the city in 2023 compared to the previous year, crimes and car thefts remain high.
