Fans on social media have seen an “embarrassing” video of Jordan Henderson posted on Ajax’s pages.

Henderson moved to the Dutch side in January having been restless in the Middle East, having left Liverpool for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq in the summer.

While he has only played four games since joining Ajax, he is already making a lasting impression, with the club’s social media paying tribute to his “mentality”.

In a post about xOn , formerly known as Twitter, the club shared a video showing Henderson’s pressing skills, as he chased down a goalkeeper to win a shot.

In the video, the former Liverpool captain can be seen bursting into celebration after winning the kick, having run almost half the field to get there.

While the club’s social media account took the opportunity to praise Henderson for his actions, some online users did not see it the same way.

“Are you going to post any content where he is doing something constructive with football?” one user wrote.

Another said: ‘Hahahaha, is this the highlight? He ran and didn’t get the ball and then cheered? “One of the worst players I have had the displeasure of seeing.”

‘Hendo is/was a passionate trader who runs/presses without direction or thought. This invariably breaks the structure of the team and allows pressure-resistant technical equipment to pass from one side to the other,” said one user.

In a blunt response, one supporter wrote: “OMG this is embarrassing.”

Some took the opportunity to mention Henderson’s chances of playing in this summer’s Euros, with one fan saying: “Southgate will love that as an excuse to pick him.”

On a similar topic, another said: ‘Southgate looks at that ‘passion’ so he can explain why he’s starting alongside Kalvin Phillips at the Euros!’

Henderson ended his stay on Merseyside during the 2023 summer transfer window when he secured a lucrative move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq.

However, things did not work out for the England international, who has since opted to return to Europe and joined Dutch giants Ajax during the January window.

Henderson had been a crucial part of the Liverpool squad since joining the club for £20m from Sunderland in 2011.

In his twelve years on Merseyside, Henderson lifted seven major trophies, including the Premier League and the Champions League.
