Jana Kramer made an emotional revelation in a touching Instagram post celebrating her son Roman’s first birthday this week.

The 40-year-old actress and her husband Alan Russell, a former football player, welcomed their bundle of joy last year and tied the knot in their native Scotland in July this year.

Now, the day before her little one turned one, Jana revealed that she almost aborted Roman in his first trimester.

‘Around 8 weeks pregnant I started bleeding a lot. “I started crying because I knew exactly what was happening as I had miscarried several times in the past,” she wrote.

However, Roman was saved and Jana has now sent a touching message to anyone struggling to have a baby: “never give up hope.”

She spoke candidly about her current state of mind, writing, “On the eve of Roman’s first birthday, I’m feeling all the emotions, but most of all I’m so grateful.”

Jana remembers: ‘Around the eighth week of pregnancy I started bleeding a lot. I started crying because I knew exactly what was happening as I had miscarried several times in the past. “I was shocked when we saw a heartbeat that same day.”

The One Tree Hill alum was told she was suffering from “a subchronic bleed and since the bleed was larger than the baby at the time, there was a 50/50 chance she would miscarry.”

Jana added: “I’m so grateful for Allan because he heard the positive side of this… but all I heard was that I’m going to lose the baby.” For the next 8-10 weeks you would see blood and for anyone who has had an abortion you know it is the most uncomfortable thing to see when you are pregnant. But the bleeding stopped and Roman continued to grow.

She heartbreakingly continued: “Then there was the fibroid that kept growing which we were told could disrupt the placenta.”

Jana continued: ‘Every day I prayed so hard that this sweet baby would keep beating. So when it came time to write on the foundation of our house our prayers and the scriptures we love, all I kept thinking was just “keep pounding, baby.”

The accompanying Instagram album included an image of the bare wood on one of the door frames of Jana and Allan’s home, on which they had written the phrase: “Keep beating baby,” along with a heart.

Another image showed Allan apparently writing the phrase: “You’ll be safe, baby,” also on a door frame that had not yet been painted.
