Jamie Oliver has sparked outrage for making a curry “out of a jar” and microwaving poppadom in his new Channel 4 series.
Good Morning Britain presenter Adil Ray, 50, joked that he was tempted to “try and do a cooking show” after seeing the celebrity chef using pre-prepared ingredients in a segment.
In the latest episode of Channel 4’s Jamie: Fast and Simple, the dad-of-five, from Essex, demonstrated how to make spicy green bean curry in just over a quarter of an hour.
Jamie introduced the segment by saying: ‘My Spiced Green Beans are a brilliant way to use up everyday staples and large canned beans. Plus, everything comes together in minutes.’
To start, the chef heated up some olive oil in a frying pan before grabbing a jar of his own Jamie Oliver brand ‘Creamy Korma’ curry paste.

And he added: ‘(It is) very useful for complex flavors without complications.
‘This is korma, but you could use rogan josh, you could use tikka. Whatever you want.’
After adding some turmeric, beans, frozen spinach and red wine vinegar, Jamie let his curry simmer on the hob before introducing his next culinary “trick.”
He explained: ‘In the supermarket you can buy poppadoms that are not fried.
“You can put them in the microwave at will for about 35 seconds and the magic happens.”
As he took his poppadom out of the microwave, Jamie said the recipe was an example of “smart cooking.”
However, Adil Ray disagreed with this statement and wrote on X: ‘Jamie Oliver has just cooked a curry using a supermarket curry paste and heated up a popadom in the microwave.
“I think I might try doing a cooking show.”

Adil Ray’s X post divided his followers, with some claiming Jamie Oliver was trying to cater to less experienced cooks.

The star’s post divided her 154,000 followers: some argued the recipe was in line with the series’ theme, while others labeled it an “abomination.”
One wrote: ‘Wow. Even I make my own curries and samosas and I can’t say it’s all that in the kitchen.
Another added: ‘What’s next? Does Jamie Oliver make cornflakes by opening a package, pouring it in, and adding milk?
A third joked: ‘Jamie is just copying me. Imitation (being) the sincerest form of flattery.
However, others said Jamie was clearly trying to cater to less experienced home cooks.
“For some people, (making curry paste) is several steps above what they can currently achieve,” said one supporter.
“When you’ve sold 50 million cookbooks, you’ve earned it,” said another.
