When a woman found a live scorpion in her shopping package, many hoped it was nothing more than a gruesome Halloween nightmare gone wrong.

But unfortunately, it was a reality for Bristol University student Sofia Alonso-Mossinger, 18, who received much more than she bargained for when she opened her Shein package.

Along with a stylish new pair of boots, she was greeted with the unwelcome bonus of a menacing scorpion, and Shein shoppers have since vowed not to suffer the same fate.

All over the world, people have filmed themselves cautiously unpacking items from the fast fashion retailer. From slapping them to stomping them, it seems like people aren’t taking any chances.

In the United States, Michelle and her little daughter Alyssa decided tiktok to reveal the contents of your Shein loot.

Sydney, 24, shook her Shein packages vigorously

She looked visibly scared as she opened the packages.

In the UK, 24-year-old Sydney (pictured) vigorously shook her Shein packages before opening them.

Set to the tune of TikTok’s trending sound, 1995’s ‘I’m Just a Girl’ by Gwen Stefani’s group No Doubt, one caption read: ‘The way we open our Shein order now: Making sure there are no scorpions inside’.

The mother of two and the adorable young man, a leukemia survivor, could be seen kneeling in their living room with a large white package spread out before them.

Alyssa then began hitting the package while her mother playfully hit it with a large spatula. After a while, the very anxious couple opened it to examine the individual packages one by one.

While Michelle gripped each package tightly, Alyssa tapped them with her spatula to make sure there were no nasty surprises lurking inside.

Fortunately, it was a successful tour and free of scary animals.

The fever has also affected Brits, including content creator Alessia, who took drastic measures to avoid being stung by a scorpion.

The mother-of-four and breast cancer survivor regularly treats her TikTok followers to shopping trips from Asda and B&M, but this post had a shocking twist.

“I’m just a girl looking for a scorpion on my Shein package,” she wrote.

Brit Alessia, (pictured), mother of four, took no chances and opted to open her package while wearing thick rubber gloves.

In a short snippet posted on her page, Alessia put on a pair of thick yellow rubber gloves which she used to carefully touch the package.

Feeling confident that there were no threatening critters inside, she opened it and emptied its contents into a bathtub.

Luckily for Alessia, the package contained clothes and nothing else. So far, his method has received more than 12 million views.

Also in the UK, 24-year-old Sydney applied for help opening her Shein store.

Sydney, who recently enjoyed a getaway to Tenerife, posted a video on TikTok with the words: ‘POV: You’re afraid to open your Shein package after the scorpion scandal.’

Throughout the video, Sydney was visibly scared, so much so that she covered her mouth with one hand, perhaps to cope with her anxiety.

She and a boy named Zak opened the Shein package on camera. They then picked up each individually wrapped item and shook them vigorously.

Alessia's method has proven popular and has received over 12 million views.

Back in the States, ‘cool mom’ Aisha Antoinette barely kept her cool when she came across a box of Shein products.

In the action packed videothe mother could be seen dressed in a leopard-print jumpsuit, gloves and rubber boots; in preparation for the brave mission.

‘I’m ready!’ he yelled, before repeatedly kicking the box. After that, he cut it with large scissors and threw its contents on the ground.

Then she stomped on it furiously until she was satisfied that it contained no creepy crawlies. “There are no scorpions in this one,” she said, while revealing a new orange dress.

He employed the same tactic for the next package, however, this time he took a hammer and hit it several times.

Similarly, a man used the head of a broom to hit and puncture his Shein package.

Amy Jowett had ordered a pair of joggers online, but when she opened the package, the dead bug fell out.

He first thought it was a “big moth” before quickly realizing it was a cockroach.

Mrs Jowett, from Langport, Somerset, said it was “disgusting and horrible”.

When opening her other Shein packages, she said she used “pincer fingers” and “shaken them well” because she was “paranoid” there were going to be more bugs inside.

She told the BBC she thought: ‘What’s going on here? I didn’t order any mistakes.’

The Langport resident added: “It’s ridiculous that a scorpion was found and now this.”

Shein said he contacted Jowett to resolve the issue.
