Sydnie Christmas revealed on Friday that she didn't spend a penny of her £250,000 prize after show bosses had to hound her to accept the fortune.

Sydnie Christmas revealed she has not spent a penny of her £250,000 prize and intends to give it to any future children she has or buy a house.

The singer, 29, who won the 17th series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2024, admitted she kept all the money in a savings account.

Sydnie revealed that the only thing she’s ever wanted in life is stability: “I’ve kept it all in a savings account because I want to save up to buy a house at some point.”

“All I ever wanted was stability, to be able to move forward in the future and one day have kids and stuff like that, so now, luckily, that’s been given to me.”

She continued: ‘I wanted to use it the right way. So no, I haven’t touched it yet. But one day it will be to buy a house.’

“Once I make more money in the future, hopefully when things start to work out, then I’ll indulge in something extravagant.” But for now I’m happy to be working.”

During the interview, Sydnie also talked about what her life has been like since winning the talent show.

Sydnie said: ‘It’s been crazy! But it’s been a lot of fun.”

‘I finished working on the album, which is great. “I’ve had some gigs, really cool gigs, in front of a lot of people.”

‘The Blackpool Illuminations were simply incredible. I heard there were 80,000 people there, but then I also heard there were 100,000 people there. “It was just ridiculous, the best experience of my life.”

Speaking about the release of her debut album, My Way, which dropped last month, Sydnie said: “I’m nervous, but it’s what I’ve always wanted.” It’s great, really great. I’m just intrigued to see how it goes.

The star also revealed that music mogul Simon Cowell, 64, is “very difficult to contact” when asked if he or Amanda Holden, 53, had been in contact before the release of their album.

She said: ‘It is very difficult to locate Simon. I heard he doesn’t have a phone, which I think is very smart, and I understand why he wouldn’t have a phone.

“He’s a very busy man, I feel like they supported me a lot during the show, and the last words I got from Simon were how proud he was and to go for whatever you want, because you can.”

‘You have the power to go for what you want, which was really great advice from Simon. A lot of it is like that. To choose your route.

The star also revealed that he idolizes Arlene Phillips, 81, and considers her a “god” in the world of musical theater.

She said: ‘I love Arlene. We go back to the days of Starlight, Arlene Phillips and me. She knows I’m absolutely obsessed with her and idolize the ground she walks on.’

‘We’ve spent a lot of time in the process of making the show, in rehearsals and things like that. I think of Arlene as if she were a demigod. A god, indeed. Especially in the musical theater world, she’s the leader.”

‘If you have Arlene on your side, you’re winning. So the fact that I made her proud makes me ecstatic.”

Sydnie revealed that she spoke to her not long ago on the phone and continued: “I spoke to her on the phone not long ago because I asked her for advice.”

After winning Britain's Got Talent, Sydnie's schedule has been packed as she revealed she will be singing at the Hollywood Bowl in three weeks for David Foster's 75th birthday (David pictured with wife Katharine McPhee in March).

“I thought, ‘Oh, Arlene, help me. “I don’t know what’s going on” because this is so overwhelming, a very different side of the industry than I’m used to.

But fortunately, Arlene has been in every sector of the industry. I was lucky that she dedicated an hour of her time to me, called me and surely calmed me down. She is a charming and affectionate lady.

“If I have half the career that Arlene has, I’m a very happy woman.”

During the interview, the star also revealed that she will be traveling to Los Angeles in three weeks to sing at the Hollywood Bowl for David Foster’s 75th birthday.

Sharing her busy schedule, Sydnie said: “I’m singing for David Foster’s 75th birthday.”

‘I’ve got the panto. I also have the Royal Variety Show in November. Panto in December and then tour in February.

She continued: ‘I’ve never done panto so I’m really looking forward to it. It’s in Orchard West in Dartford, near my house.

‘I’ll be back home for Christmas and it would be nice to thank all the locals who voted for me. “You can see me live, which is fun.”

The star also admitted that auditioning for the pantomime “is exhausting” as she revealed her role.

She said: ‘(I’m playing) Christmas Fairy in Sleeping Beauty. They had never signed me for it.

‘I’ve been going for panto since I was a kid and the last time I went for panto (I) was about 25 and I didn’t understand it.’

“I think people underestimate the fact that you have to keep trying hard at auditions, it’s exhausting, there’s a part of you that doesn’t want to put in all your efforts when you’re going to be rejected.”

‘But you have to give your best in everything. I’m counting my lucky stars right now.
