Jennie Garth looked downcast in a black jumpsuit as she arrived at The View in New York on Thursday.
Earlier this week, Jennie said the death of Shannen and her co-star Luke Perry in 2019 at age 52 made her “feel very scared” about the topic of mortality.
“Especially with Luke’s death and now Shannen,” Garth told Tori Spelling in his 90210MG podcast Monday, July 22.
“I feel like, I don’t know, any one of us could die at any moment. That kind of feeling… yeah, it’s scary.”
Jennie played Kelly Taylor on the popular television show in 292 episodes from 1990 to 2000.
“Nobody will really understand it unless they’ve been there with us at the time and gone through the experience with us,” Garth said.
“It’s hard to believe that other people understand that connection.”
Garth said that despite Doherty’s well-documented health issues, she was still very shocked to hear of his passing, knowing he was very resilient.
“It’s crazy that we could be in shock knowing she was sick and knowing how hard she was fighting, but we still felt shocked,” Garth said, adding that “I never thought (Doherty) would succumb to cancer.”
Doherty was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, which went into remission before returning as stage four cancer in 2017 and spreading to her brain last year.
“Especially with Luke’s death and now Shannen’s,” Garth told Tori Spelling on her 90210MG podcast on Monday, July 22.

Garth shared a loving tribute to Doherty the day after her death. He shared two old photos of the two of them.
“I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my lifelong friend Shannen, the woman I have often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known. Our connection was real and honest,” her message began.
‘We clashed many times, but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was based on mutual respect and admiration. She was brave, passionate, determined and very loving and generous.
“I will miss her and always honor her deeply in my heart and memories. My heart breaks for her family, for Bowie, and for all the people who loved her,” he wrote.
Jennie also shared a happy story about Shannen on the podcast.

‘I was remembering that there were times when, after we stopped filming (90210) and I was newly divorced, I think, she had a special interest in whoever I was dating. She wanted to meet them, basically investigate them, I guess.
This would be after Garth and her first husband, Dave Abrams, divorced in 1996.
“We went to dinner with two of my boyfriends during that weird time, and I remember her really looking at them from across the table and sizing them up,” Garth recalled.
“And then I would say to her, ‘What do you think?’ And she would tell me,” he said.
