Sam Thompson has broken his silence after being comforted by friend Pete Wicks at the TRIC Awards on Tuesday amid reports he has been having “crisis talks” with Zara McDermott.
In pictures obtained exclusively by MailOnline, the I’m A Celebrity winner, 31, was seen having an emotional exchange with his close friend in the smoking area of London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
Sam appeared to burst into tears before Pete sweetly hugged him, however the Made In Chelsea star has now explained why he was so emotional.
Speaking on her Staying Relevant podcast, she revealed she had received some upsetting news that day, but confirmed she was not crying.
“I wasn’t crying, I wasn’t really crying. I just want everyone to know that now.

-Look, there’s no way around it. I had actually received some bad news, so I felt really sad, I’m not going to lie, but I was.
Sam explained that Pete took him to the back of the hotel to comfort him and give him a shoulder to cry on.
He explained: “I let it go, I let it all out. I headbutted Pete on the shoulder. I rubbed his armpit and he was really nice saying ‘I’m always there for you, blah, blah, blah’ and I felt really sorry for myself.”
During the awards show, both the couple’s podcast and I’m A Celeb were nominated for an award, but neither managed to win.
Lightening the mood, Pete He joked: “Personally, I think it was Sam’s way of making it clear that we hadn’t won any awards. I think that’s where the tears came from.”

“Today is going to be a good day. I’m never wrong. It’s going to be a really good day,” Sam smiled.
She added: ‘And the Staying Relevant podcast episode that came out yesterday is one of my favorite episodes I think I’ve ever recorded.
‘Pete is in great shape right now, he really is! So click the link and give it a listen. Let’s get started!’

It is not known what the pair were looking for, but they had arrived at the scene shortly after supporting Sam’s nephew Leo, two, at his sports day at Eel Brook Common, with his sister Louise Thompson.
However, in a series of social media posts from that day, Zara was noticeably absent from all of them, leading to speculation that she did not join the Thompson clan.
But the Love Island star took to her Instagram Stories the same day to reveal the pair had grabbed two ice creams from a van during their outing.

She is now back in Britain and the couple are believed to be trying to salvage their relationship.
The source also added that Zara returned home to try to “resolve their differences.”
This comes just weeks after Sam had a similarly dramatic conversation with his girlfriend, although the star has since insisted they were just having a “passionate pep talk.”

“It sounds like we’re arguing, but I’m actually telling him positive affirmations in a very passionate way.”
Zara looked frustrated as she visibly waved her arms while deep in the tense conversation, but has now confirmed that it was just an incredibly passionate conversation.
The couple have been dating for four years after the Love Island star ‘slid into her DMs’.
They briefly split in 2020 after he found out she had cheated on him with a colleague while appearing on X Factor: Celebrity, before rekindling their romance with scenes played out on Made In Chelsea.
