US Open – Day 3 Preview

The great streak will continue for Adam Scott. The Australian qualified for this week’s US Open according to the Official World Golf Ranking.

The top 60 players in the rankings after last week’s Memorial Tournament qualified for the third men’s major of the season. Scott is currently ranked 61st, but was given the final spot in the rankings because the late Grayson Murray (59th) is still ranked.

A look at those who have currently qualified for the third men’s major of the season.

This will be Scott’s 92nd consecutive start in a major, dating back to the 2001 Open Championship. Scott attempted to reach the Pinehurst course through final qualifying, but lost in a playoff to compatriot Cam Davis.

Robert MacIntyre, winner of the RBC Canadian Open, also qualified by being inside the top 60 at the last OWGR.

The USGA added four final qualifying alternates to round out the 156-player field: Sergio Garcia (Dallas), amateur Brendan Valdes (Jupiter), Otto Black (Columbus) and Maxwell Moldovan (Springfield).

This will be García’s 25th consecutive appearance at the US Open, tying him for 10th all time.
