Nominations for the 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Wednesday morning.
Emmy-winning actors Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tony Hale named the nominees at a live press event from Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.
The Bear set a new single-year record for nominations in the Comedy category with 23 (previously held by 30 Rock with 22 nominations in 2009), and Shōgun led this year’s Drama category with 25 nominations.
Nominations for Best Comedy Series went to Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, Only Murders In The Building, Palm Royale, Reservation Dogs and What We Do In The Shadows.
For Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Anthology Series or Movie the nominations were: Jodie Foster for True Detective, Brie Larson for Lessons in Chemistry, Juno Temple for Fargo, Sofia Vergara for Griselda and Naomi Watts for Feud.
Baby Reindeer, Fargo, Lessons In Chemistry, Ripley and True Detective were nominated for Best Limited Anthology Series or Movie.
Jennifer Aniston was nominated for The Morning Show, Carrie Coon for The Gilded Age, Maya Erskine for Mr and Mrs Smith, Ana Sawai for Shogun, Imelda Stanton for The Crown and Reese Witherspoon for The Morning Show.

The first nomination was for best talk show. The nominations were The Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night With Seth Meyers and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The nominees for Best Reality Competition Program were Amazing Race, RuPaul Drag Race, Top Chef, The Traitors and The Voice.
The Emmy Awards will air live on ABC on Sunday, September 15 from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
A host has not yet been named.
This year’s ceremony will take place less than a year after the 75th edition of the show.
It took place last January after being delayed from its planned September 2023 date due to strikes by writers and actors.
Cris Abrego gave the first introduction by sharing that the nominated shows will air from June 2023 to May 2024.
He then introduced Ralph and Hale on stage.
