A Victorian man who walked into the Channel 7 building and said “I’m here to shake Larry Emdur’s hand” must stay at least 2km away from the Gold Logie-winning star under the terms of a restraining order, a court has been told.
Police have issued an arrest warrant (AVO) to protect The Morning Show co-host, 59, against Victorian man Rodney Pearce following an incident at the broadcaster’s Sydney headquarters on August 22.
A court was told on Monday that Pearce entered the building by following security through a door and then an employee into a lift.
He was escorted out of the building by security and when confronted said, “I’m here to shake Larry Emdur’s hand.”
Pearce was arrested and taken to hospital for assessment before he was charged by police and an AVO was issued on Emdur’s behalf.
On Monday morning, in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court, Magistrate Greg Grogin ended the restraining order in Pearce’s absence. Neither Pearce nor his legal representative were present in court.
Mr Grogin told the court the police application showed there was good reason for granting the AVO.
Under the terms of the order, Pearce is not to approach or contact Emdur.
Police have issued a domestic violence warrant (AVO) to protect The Morning Show co-host Larry Emdur, 59 (pictured after winning the Gold Logie last month).

He is banned from coming within two kilometres of any place where Emdur lives or works, in particular the Channel 7 building. Pearce was also charged with trespassing and possession of a prohibited drug.
Earlier this month, at Downing Centre Local Court, he was fined $550 after the case was heard in his absence. No plea was recorded.
Emdur won the Gold Logie on 18 August.
Earlier this month, she took to Instagram to criticise tabloid magazines for publishing sensational headlines on the issue of “harassment”.
He assured fans that he is “doing well” and is still “in a positive frame of mind” before adding that headlines claiming he and his family are “in danger” are “simply not correct.”
“I just wanted to get my hands dirty and figure something out quickly. There’s a lot of buzz in the magazines about this,” Emdur said in the video.
The Chase presenter then held up a magazine to show the column written about her alleged stalker and reports that NSW Police have taken out an AVO to protect Emdur.
“Notice to stalker. Leave Larry alone!” Emdur read. “This is all a big deal.” Larry Emdur, living in fear. “I just wanted you to know that I’m okay.
“I’m more than fine. I’m still in the glow of the Logies and I’m loving it. The Morning Show is going really well, The Chase is going really well, my whisky is going really well.
“Everything in my life is absolutely fantastic. So when you read something like ‘Larry Emdur lives in fear. His family is in danger,’ it’s not right.”
He added: “It’s not what’s going on in my life… Anyway, thank you for your concern. I’m completely fine 100 percent. Everything is business as usual.”
