West Ham have reportedly agreed a deal with Leeds to sign Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville, in a boost for manager Julen Lopetegui.

Talks have been underway to reach an agreement with the talented attacker, who has two years remaining on his contract at Elland Road after joining in a budget £1.3million transfer four years earlier.

It was previously suggested the Hammers were considering pulling out of negotiations because they believed the price, believed to be in the region of £35m – £40m, was too expensive.

However, the two clubs have now reached an agreement after negotiations advanced to the acceptance stage late on Wednesday, David Orstein reported.

Summerville have been keen to return to the Premier League after Leeds missed out on promotion after being beaten by Southampton in last season’s play-off final.

The 22-year-old has agreed personal terms and is set to sign a five-year contract with West Ham as they look to commit the player to a long-term stint in London.

The Hammers are currently on pre-season duty in the United States, and Summerville will undergo his medical in England before flying out to join his new teammates.

Summerville, who has been capped by the Netherlands Under-21s, was one of the best players in the competition last season but was not selected for his country’s squad for Euro 2024.

He has made 89 appearances and scored 25 goals for Leeds, as well as providing 12 assists. 20 of those goals came in the Championship last season.

Brighton enquired about Summerville last month. Summerville was named Championship Player of the Season last year as he frequently impressed despite Leeds failing to secure promotion.

Lopetegui, meanwhile, is attempting to implement his style of play on West Ham’s stars in the United States after replacing David Moyes as head coach following the end of last season.

The former Wolves boss previously said during West Ham’s pre-season: “We’re here to work, so we’re trying to put our style into practice. We’re trying to show our style and the type of football we have.”

‘We’ve been without some players because of the Euro Cup and the Copa America, so little by little we’re getting more players and it’s a key moment and we want to have the whole group back as soon as possible to start working towards that.’

Mail Sport has learned that talks with Borussia Dortmund over Niclas Fullkrug are progressing and a deal is believed to be close.

He is also said to be on his way to undergoing a medical and could also join the team in the US.
