Walbundrie shooting: Woman shot before man found dead near Albury in rural NSW horror

A man's body was found three hours after he allegedly shot a woman in the hand during a domestic dispute.

A man was found dead three hours after shooting a woman during an alleged domestic dispute.

Police believe the man, 68, shot the woman, 51, in her right hand outside a property on Reynella Rd in Walbundrie, near Albury on the New South Wales-Victoria border, on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to the property at around 8.35am following reports of a gunshot, but the man had fled the scene in a car when they arrived.

Police found the body of a man more than three hours later, at about 11.45am, near Kings Bridge Road, Calcairn, about 20 minutes from the property.

Although the body has not been formally identified, it is believed to be the same man involved in the earlier incident.

The woman was treated at the property by paramedics before being transported to Albury Base Hospital in a stable condition.

New South Wales Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances of the shooting and the man’s death.

A second crime scene has also been established on Walla Walla Road in the nearby town of Georgery.
