Vanessa Feltz has revealed that her weight loss problems began after her mother Valerie forced her to take black market amphetamines to “lose weight” in her 20s.

‘Although I felt bad, the kilos magically evaporated. I wore a size eight. I released my hip bones. Pieces of skeleton were visible under my skin.

‘He was not thin, but the holiest of holy grails: thin, almost emaciated. He looked like a malnourished bush baby. “It was everything I had ever wanted.”

Later in 2019, he decided to have a gastric bypass, in which a small pouch was created in his stomach and connected to the small intestine, bypassing the rest of the stomach, which meant he ate less food and felt more full for longer.

The procedure led to her losing an additional fifth and she has maintained that weight ever since.

Vanessa insists her overeating is due to her mental state, adding that once she underwent her surgical procedures she was comparable to the late footballer George Best, who continued to drink alcohol despite having a liver transplant.
