The Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs have announced that their team’s offseason workout program will take place on April 15 and a mandatory two-day minicamp will begin on June 11.
Their organized team activities (OTAs) will take place at various intervals from May 20 to June 6, as Travis Kelce and his team begin to take the first steps toward their shot at an unprecedented ‘three-rounder’ .
For Kelce in particular, the dates offer some guidance as to when he will focus on football ahead of a summer in which he is expected to tour Europe with girlfriend Taylor Swft’s Eras Tour dates.
Players like Kelce aren’t always present every day of OTAs, but last year the tight end spoke to the media about “attacking them like it’s training camp” before the new season.
And it was an approach that served the Chiefs well, as they won a second straight Super Bowl.
Travis Kelce’s summer is taking shape as Chiefs announce offseason plans
Kelce has mandatory minicamp in June that overlaps with Taylor Swift’s European dates
The Chiefs’ minicamp on June 11-13 is when Swift will play at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium.
But a year later, Kelce is a truly global name due to his relationship with Swift and is embarking on a four-month tour of Europe from early May, starting in Paris.
At the Chiefs’ two-day minicamp, June 11-13, Kelce could miss Swift playing at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium.
The iconic Premier League team shares ownership with the Boston Red Sox and Swift will play three nights there from June 13-15. In theory, Kelce could fly out after June 13 and see one of these last shows.
Kelce is also hosting his festival, Kelce Jam, in Kansas City on May 18, so he might be inclined to stay in town for the first OTA of the year on May 20.
The NFL season typically begins the Thursday after Labor Day, which this year is September 5.
It also typically sees the previous year’s Super Bowl winners begin the campaign: Last season, the Chiefs began with a 21-20 loss at Arrowhead Stadium to the Detroit Lions and Kelce missed the game due to injury.
Swift’s European tour ends on August 20 at London’s Wembley Stadium, so she could be there when Kelce and the Chiefs begin their chance to make history in early September.
Swift was a regular at Chiefs games last season when Kelce won another Super Bowl.
But as Swift prepares to tour Europe, Kelce’s attention will be focused on preparing for the new season.
It had previously been claimed that Kelce had planned trips to vineyards in Italy with Swift, who will play a weekend in Milan on July 13 and 14, as well as booking tables at some of Europe’s best restaurants while she was on tour.
But while it seems inevitable that Kelce will support his girlfriend in any way he can this summer, it won’t be long until his football commitments are back in the spotlight.
When his commitments ended last season, Kelce headed to Australia and Singapore to see his shows.
The couple was in the Caribbean last weekend and spent time together in the Bahamas.
