Timothée Chalamet radiated Bob Dylan’s iconic cool when he was spotted filming the biopic A Complete Unknown on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old actor was joined on set in Hoboken, New Jersey, by his co-star Elle Fanning, 26.
Chalamet channeled the iconic folk singer-turned-rock prophet with a pair of black sunglasses that matched Dylan’s iconic ’60s look, along with a mass of appropriately curly hair.
A Complete Unknown, directed and co-written by Logan and Ford V. Ferrari filmmaker James Mangold, chronicles Dylan’s move to New York City in 1961 to establish himself as a folk singer.
The film follows his astonishing artistic development in the first half of the decade, when he went from protest songs and folk standards to forming a band and “going electric.”

The move was controversial at the time, and Dylan angered many fans of his more introspective folk music with the turn to rock, although he would record some of the best albums of the decade in short succession after the transition.
The singer-songwriter stand-in was dressed casually on set in a brown suede jacket.
She wore it over a black shirt and a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, and sported a pair of black Cuban heels, also known as Beatle boots, as they were closely identified with her friends in The Beatles, who regularly wore skinny boots. with modest heels in the beginning.

She sat behind Timothée on a red and silver Triumph motorcycle and wrapped her arms around his chest while scrunching her face in fear as he looked about to walk away.

Fanning, who plays Suze Rotolo, Dylan’s girlfriend from 1961 to 1964, wore a beige jacket, khaki cutoffs, green sneakers and a large backpack as she clutched Chalamet for support.
Rotolo was a major influence on the future hitmaker’s songwriting at the time, and famously appeared snuggling against him affectionately as they trudged through the snow on the iconic cover of his 1963 second album, The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.
In 1962, he went on a trip to Italy with his mother, who later informed Dylan that it had been extended for what would be six months.
During their time apart, the musician wrote some of his best early love songs, most of which appeared on his playlists here and there for decades to come, including Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright, One Too Many Mornings , Tomorrow Is A. A lot of time and Spanish leather boots.
Rotolo’s leftist upbringing is also said to have influenced Dylan’s political awakening in the early ’60s, and he credits it with sparking his interest in French poet Arthur Rimbaud and playwright Bertolt Brecht, whom he credits with influencing his composition.
It’s unclear what year the Complete Unknown scene takes place in, but Dylan’s outfit, sunglasses, and shaggy hair suggest it could be toward the end of their romance.
It’s unclear if the scene is supposed to function as foreshadowing for the final film, as a red Triumph plays a pivotal role in Dylan’s career.
In 1966, Dylan crashed his ’64 Triumph Tiger 100 near his manager’s house in Woodstock, New York.
He claimed he broke several vertebrae in his neck and suffered cuts to his face.
Chalamet was the spitting image of Dylan as he smoked a cigarette. A Complete Unknown traces his move to New York in 1961 and his transition from folk troubadour to electric prophet.

However, the extent of his injuries is unclear, as he was apparently not hospitalized immediately after the incident.
But after the crisis he largely retreated from public life and went on to write more intimate folk- and country-inspired songs on albums from the late ’60s.
He ended his hectic touring schedule and did not tour again for eight years, while only giving sporadic concerts and making guest appearances.
A Complete Unknown, co-written by Jay Cocks, does not yet have a release date.
