Tim Walz’s wife, Gwen, assigned tasks to Americans in a video that has social media wondering why he treats voters like his school-aged children.
Gwen, like her husband and Minnesota governor Tim, is a long-time school teacher who tried to use that experience in the clip posted to Kamala Harris’ TikTok campaign.
‘I’m here with a task for you today. “It’s scheduled for November 5,” he said in the video, which has garnered more than 215,000 views since it was posted Sunday morning.
‘Now I’m going to put on my teacher glasses because this is very serious, like a final exam and there is no late work.
‘I need you and three friends to go to the polls and make your voices heard. You have to vote. I’m going to repeat that again. You and three of your friends have to make your voices heard by voting.
Tim Walz’s wife, Gwen, assigned homework to Americans in a video that has social media wondering why he treats voters like his children at school.
Gwen, like her husband and Minnesota governor Tim, is a longtime school teacher who tried to use that experience in the clip, posted to Kamala Harris’ campaign TikTok.
Like many students who react to the assignment, the reaction on social media was lukewarm.
One X user wrote: ‘Wow…they really think Americans are stupid. It amazes me how Democrats think so little of the American people.
Another chimed in: ‘Well, the average Democratic voter matches that intellectual level. Maybe it will work, although I doubt it. They are getting desperate.
It’s painful to listen to it. “I can’t stand that for 4 years,” added another.
This is not the first time the First Lady of Minnesota has been mocked for her gestures during the election campaign.
In September it was attacked online after he gave a spirited speech against the former president donald trump during a campaign event in Superior, Wisconsin.
‘Bye bye. Goodbye Donald Trump!’ he shouted, raising his voice and approaching the microphone.
‘We are turning the page! 52 days and we are turning the page!’ she cried. ’52 days and goodbye Donald Trump!’
The reaction on social networks was, like that of many students regarding the task, unenthusiastic.
The Trump campaign cropped the video and shared it on social media.
‘CONFIRMED: Gwen Walz is as embarrassing as Tampon Tim,’ the account read.
The name ‘Tampon Tim’ has since been used in conservative circles to describe the governor chosen to improve Harris’ presidential prospects. It stems from the governor’s decision to sign a 2023 law requiring schools to provide menstrual supplies in Minnesota school boys’ bathrooms.
The video sparked similar reactions online among Trump supporters, who described it as “embarrassing” and a sign that Walz clearly had “Trump derangement syndrome.”
Others described her as “worse than Hillary Clinton” or “Hillary 2.0.”
But her husband Tim had only positive things to say about his wife’s introductory words.
“When Gwen Walz speaks, people always ask why doesn’t she run?” he asked the crowd. “She’s an English teacher, words matter.”
