This Morning fans have criticized Alison Hammond’s ‘awful’ acting skills after Dermot O’Leary played an April Fools’ Day prank on her.
During Monday’s episode, Alison, 49, introduced a guest who claimed to have discovered that a vase she bought for just £1.50 was worth £30,000 on Antiques Roadshow.
Guest Joanne appeared on the show with her vase, which she said she found at a car boot sale. The vase was perched precariously on a thin pedestal.
Dermot, 51, and Alison then interviewed an antiques expert about why the vase was worth so much, at which point he said it was one of only two in the entire world. “This has ignited the art world,” said the expert.
However, moments later, Dermot knocked over the thin pedestal, sending the vase crashing to the ground and breaking into pieces.
This Morning fans slammed Alison Hammond’s ‘terrible performance’ after Dermot O’Leary pulled an April Fools’ prank on her on Monday’s show.
The TV presenter, 49, was left screaming after believing Dermot had smashed a vase worth £30,000 on Antiques Roadshow.
Alison let out a scream and Joanne took her face in her hands, looking completely distraught.
“Oh my God,” Alison said as she approached a very distraught Joanne. ‘Are you really kidding me?’
Looking stunned by what he had done, Dermot said: “No, I’m so sorry, I’ll pay for it.” I only have one thing to say…’
He then fell silent before shouting ‘Innocents!’ and pointing at Alison, as the television screens lit up with the words scattered everywhere. “Welcome back, Alison,” Dermot said.
Alison’s jaw dropped as she realized that both Dermot and Joanne had been involved and that she had been the butt of the joke. “That’s not funny at all,” she said.
“The whole weekend has been going well for me turning around like that,” Dermot said, before pointing at Joanne and saying: “By the way, you’re sensational.”
Alison said: ‘Do you know how bad I really felt? I was going to start crying. I didn’t even know what to say. That’s not so funny. Isn’t this real?’
“No, she’s an actress,” Dermot said, pointing to Joanne, before confirming that her real name was Vanessa.

‘I’m Vanessa and I’m going to take a little piece of souvenir,’ Vanessa joked, taking a piece of the vase. “It’s very valuable”.
But viewers of the show were not convinced by Alison’s reaction to the prank and claimed she knew it was going to happen.
On X, formerly Twitter, viewers said: “Alison, we’re not stupid, we know you knew that… you’re not an actress, that’s for sure.”
‘Alison, your performance isn’t fooling anyone. If you really didn’t know, you would have blurted out some bad words: TV or no TV;’ ‘No one believed it Alison! Time to move on!!! The acting is awful;’
‘Alison will get a role in a Hollywood movie soon after the vase’; ‘DON’T BELIEVE IT ALISON!! You would know;’
‘VERY predictable. In fact, I put the TV on mute so I wouldn’t have to endure the false gasps that were coming.
But some viewers loved the joke and believed Alison had no idea what was going to happen, or praised her performance if she did.
They said: ‘Either Alison didn’t really know, or she’s a good actress, I can’t decide. Although a little unpleasant;’ ‘Every person in the country was committed to it until she fell. Pretty;’
‘Oh wow, I didn’t expect to love a good #ThisMorning April Fools’; “Great April Fool’s Day at #ThisMorning to be fair.”
