An Amazon delivery driver was caught on camera crashing into a mother walking with her four-month-old baby and dog, before fleeing the scene.

Disturbing footage obtained by WPLG shows an unidentified 30-year-old mother pushing her child in a stroller and walking her dog in the crosswalk at Northeast 7th Avenue and Northeast 191st Street in Miami shortly after 8:30 a.m. on August 22.

As the woman was about halfway through the intersection, a gray SUV could be seen approaching her and dragging the screaming mother away.

The impact of the crash also knocked the stroller to the ground, with the baby still inside. Miami Police Report.

The suspect, whom police identified as Sarah Naybeth Parra Ovalles, 45, was later seen walking toward the overturned stroller, picking it up to stand it upright in the intersection and walking away.

Police now say Ovalles arrived in the Isles Estate neighborhood and identified herself as an Amazon driver at the gate.

A security guard then took photos of her license and plates before letting her into the gated community. CBS News reports.

Ovalles then made several deliveries before allegedly swerving into the wrong lane and running over the mother and her son.

“She hit the lady. She dragged her for about 10 seconds,” said a neighbor. he told WSVN.

Cassie Kress, another neighbor, recounted how she heard the baby “screaming.”

“It was very intense. Then we heard a horn,” he said.

Kress, a nurse, said she rushed to help the mother and child before Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials arrived on the scene and transported them to a local hospital.

The mother was treated for a skull fracture, bruises and a brain hemorrhage, while her son suffered a cut on his forehead. NBC Miami reports.

Police said they were eventually able to identify Ovalles as the perpetrator after interviewing the gate guard and a witness, who said he was inside his home when he heard the child crying and a vehicle horn.

The witness said she then looked out the window and saw a woman wearing an Amazon Prime vest standing next to a gray van and looking around.

Just seconds later, the witness said he saw the woman get back into the truck and drive away.

The next day, Miami-Dade police asked Ovalles to come to the station for an interview, during which she admitted to making deliveries in the neighborhood and seeing the victims.

But, he said, he was driving alongside them and saw the mother seem “out of it” and “put her hands on the hood.”

Ovalles said he asked the woman if she was OK, the mother nodded and walked away.

Later, when police showed her the video of the accident, Ovalles denied being the driver and invoked her right to a lawyer.

The suspect was later seen returning to place the stroller upright.

Ovalles now faces two charges of leaving the scene of an accident, one of which caused serious bodily injury.

She was seen crying in court while facing the charges, but has since been released on bail, WSVN reports.

“This is a terrible incident and our thoughts are with this family,” an Amazon spokesperson said after the incident, noting that Ovalles “no longer makes deliveries on behalf of Amazon.”

Meanwhile, the baby has returned home, but his mother remains in hospital and neighbours say she is in severe pain.
