An engineer who created a custom Stanley Cup handle for his girlfriend to hold her lip balm has now been inundated with thousands of requests to sell them.
Carmela, who has not disclosed her last name, took to TikTok to document the journey of invention.
She initially shared a clip of boyfriend Jordan sitting at his desk as he took measurements and sketched out the design.
Carmela joked that ‘engineer boyfriends are useful’ before being inundated with requests from other owners of the iconic tumblers.

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 14.8 million times, Carmela filmed the process before adding superimposed text that read: ‘Your engineer boyfriend designs a ChapStick holder for your emotional support tumblr.’
It was quickly flooded with likes and comments from admirers of the 3D printed product – which is compatible with both Stanley and Simple Modern tumblers.
After the frenzy surrounding the removable design, Carmela posted a follow-up clip to talk about the motivation behind it.
‘I was just tired of my ChapStick always falling off my desk into the bin or losing it at work really easily.
‘I bought so many ChapSticks because I lose them so easily, and my boyfriend said, “I can just design it for you.”
‘So he designed it for me and we did different tests – like a lot of different tests.
‘My boyfriend is a real engineer, so we did a lot of different tests, different angles, different supports – you name it.’
The creator then held the finished article up to the camera as she explained how the handle attaches, adding: ‘It unscrews and it is very robust.’
The first video showed her boyfriend Jordan (pictured) sitting at his desk drawing the product design and taking measurements
She continued: ‘Another question I’ve been asked is whether you can wash these handles – yes you can.
‘They are waterproof. Just don’t put them in the dishwasher, and water bottles shouldn’t be in the dishwasher anyway.’
Carmela has since shared People: ‘It’s been a running joke that my ChapStick always rolls off my nightstand and into the bin.
‘Also, I would always lose my ChapStick at work because my scrub pockets are small.
‘When Jordan noticed that the handle could come off, he started thinking about making a handle that could hold a Chapstick.
“He just got into engineering design mode and that’s how my video came about.”
She explained: ‘We’ve noticed quite a few people are confused about how it works. I was also surprised that the handle can be unscrewed.
‘This handle we designed replaces your current glass handle. You push your ChapStick in from the top and it slides right out.
‘It only falls out if your tumbler is upside down, but then your water also spills.’
