A doctor to the stars was killed outside his own clinic by a gunman who ran up and shot him from behind as he walked to his car.
Hamid Reza Mirshojae, 61, was killed in the parking lot of the Warner Plaza Urgent Center on Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Los Angeles around 5:30 p.m. last Friday.
The emergency room doctor, who also treated drug and alcohol addictions, was shot at point-blank range before he knew he was in danger.
Apart from blurry CCTV images, police have little idea of the killer’s motive or identity and have appealed to the public for information.

Mirshojae’s wife and six-month-old baby were in Türkiye at the time of his murder.
The footage shows Mirshojae was walking towards her Lexus which was parked outside the clinic when the gunman ran from the entrance and shot her without hesitation.
Mirshojae was ambushed by three men with baseball bats and beaten outside the clinic just months before his murder, according to staff.
His wife and six-month-old baby were in Turkey at the time of his murder and are believed to be returning to the United States.
Mirshojae married for the second time in 2022 and has three adult children from her previous marriage.
His ex-wife, Ahang Zarin Kelk, paid tribute to the slain doctor online by announcing a public memorial service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.
“Hamid, the kids and I are in shock. We miss you so much,” she wrote.

Patients and friends created a memorial outside the clinic with red roses, candles, photos and a sign that read, “We miss you, doctor.”
‘He was always helping people, seeing tens and thousands of patients over decades. We fought HARD to make life happen starting from nothing in the apartment and yet the world is so cold.
“He left this world with four beautiful children. We want to be strong in the face of evil to remember Hamid: father, husband, doctor and friend.”
Her heartfelt words came despite Mirshojae suing Kelk and her fiancé Allen Yadegar in 2017, accusing them of embezzling her money.
Mirshojae and Kelk divorced in 2010, but she continued to be the office manager of his clinics and they worked together on other business ventures.
Kelk and her fiancé managed some of her investment properties until “Mirshojae’s relationship with Kelk and Yadegar began to deteriorate” in October 2016, according to a separate lawsuit.

He accused them of “improperly collecting rent and interfering in the properties’ relations with their tenants,” the suit states.
The complaint alleged that Kelk and Yadegar had helped manage the properties until Mirshojae discovered the two were embezzling money and were instructed in late 2016 to cease and desist all work on the two properties.

Mirshojae staff told Los Angeles Times His boss told them he feared for his life after the baseball bat attack.
“They came and beat him with baseball bats… They were strangers we didn’t know,” they said.
It was unclear whether that beating was related to her killing.
Mirshojae’s bio on her Detox Woodland Hills website explained that she graduated from the Pacific College of Osteopathic Medicine.
He was killed in the parking lot of the Warner Plaza Urgent Center on Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Los Angeles.
He was eligible for the addiction medicine exam with more than 10 years of experience helping “thousands of patients achieve their goal of living a sober life.”
“His patients include celebrities, movie stars, athletes and many people from different walks of life,” it reads.
Police said they responded at 6:13 p.m. and there was no suspect information and the motive was unknown.
“Valley Bureau homicide detectives were notified and responded to the scene. Detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and additional evidence,” police said.
