The Block stars Eliza and Liberty Paschke have been rejected by Gogglebox Australia because they had become too famous, it has been claimed.

The fan-favorite sisters came in second place on the hit revival series last year and have since amassed 60,000 Instagram followers and launched a popular podcast.

They were said to be considering appearing on Gogglebox series 21, but then had their hopes dashed by Channel 10 producers.

A source close to Gogglebox claimed the reality show rejected them because they were too famous following their success on The Block.

“The duo would have been fantastic, but the show prides itself on featuring ordinary Australians, and the exposure on The Block has really given the girls a temporary celebrity tag – it’s not the right fit,” the source explained.

‘It’s a tough position for the girls. They’re too famous for Gogglebox Australia, but not famous enough to be on I’m A Celebrity! Australia.

‘Channel Nine remains very interested in ideas that could work for Eliza and Liberty. Their story is not over yet.’

As well as its civilian version, Gogglebox launched a celebrity version in Australia two years ago, which has featured the likes of Hamish Blake, the Irwin family, Dave Hughes and Julia Morris.

The source said it “might have been different” if Eliza and Liberty had been considered for the civil edition last year, before they gained their huge social media presence.

It was also claimed that the sisters were also considered for Travel Guides but failed to make it after Channel Nine came under fire for adding reality stars to the line-up.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted representatives for Elisa and Liberty for comment. Network 10 declined to comment.

While Eliza and Liberty have not been contracted, Gogglebox recently added some new faces when it returned to Channel Ten and Foxtel last month for its landmark 20th season.

Sisters Mia and Bree and their best friend Lainey have joined the cast of popular armchair critics, offering their entertaining television commentary to viewers.

The three newbies, from The Shire in Sydney, are fans of reality TV and regularly watch The Real Housewives, The Kardashians and Survivor.

They also love documentaries and true crime series and are willing to add some fun and cheekiness when analyzing the shows they are watching.

Mia is a teacher’s assistant studying to become a special education teacher, and her sister Bree is a dance teacher who teaches contemporary and lyrical dance.

Lainey is also a dance teacher and specializes in almost all styles of dance, and between the three of them they have four Cavoodles: Zala, Zeah, Zola and Bailey.

They joined the cricket-obsessed Delpechitra family on the show alongside their original cast members, the Dalton family, grandparents Lee and Keith and best friends Anastasia and Faye.

Also returning to the sofas were Tim and Leanne, Milo and Nic, Kerry, Izzy and baby Ruby, and Matty, Malik and Uncle Jad.

After Gogglebox became a huge success in the UK in 2013, the reality show travelled to Australia for its first instalment in 2015 and has been a staple on screens ever since.
