A Kmart shopper has revealed a big problem with the company’s popular corduroy skirts.

The $18 buys, which return each season in different colors because they’re so popular, have “inconsistent sizing.”

The buyer, who is usually a size 12, purchased the skirt in green in 2023 and opted for the size 16 option.

That skirt was a little big, so this year she bought a pink one in a size 14 that fits up but feels “too tight.”

Frustrated, the woman went to the store and bought yet another skirt. This time she opted for a tan in a size 16 which fit her perfectly.

Posting on a popular Facebook page, the woman asked if anyone else had had issues with Kmart’s sizing inconsistency.

She also shared a photo of the three skirts showing the ‘wild sizing’, especially among the noticeably mismatched size 16 skirts.

The woman said that while “size doesn’t matter to her,” she is happy to have found one that is comfortable.

However, he did say that it has the potential to affect others and could have a negative influence on their mental health.

Other Kmart fans who are part of the Kmart Hacks and Decor group were not surprised by the revelation.

“I swear sometimes they just play luck with the size tags,” one woman said.

‘Exactly why it’s a good idea to try them on first. I can’t trust a label. “According to my wardrobe, I fit between a 12 and 20,” said another.

‘I bought a 5-pack of underwear at Kmart and 2 pairs fit perfectly, the other 3 were a size smaller. All labels were size 14.’

Another woman had tried on the skirts and found the same thing.

“The other day I tried on some of the same size and one was too big and the other didn’t fit,” he said.

One woman didn’t try hers on before leaving the store and realized her mistake too late.

‘The same thing happened to me! I bought a brown and a black one. I always wear the black one but I had to return the brown one!’

Others theorized how size errors occur.

“When a pattern is cut to one size, they are cut in a large pile, not individually. The first ones are similar to the size, but as they get to the end of the pile of fabric, the size increases or decreases depending on the type of fabric that is cut, that is, if it is elastic. This generates a variation in the sizes of the same size,” explained one woman.

Speaking to Yahoo Australia, a Kmart representative said the team always follows a “consistent sizing guide.” After learning of the complaint, they began an investigation into “what could have happened.”
