A Texas high school cosmetology teacher and her son have been charged with child trafficking after she allegedly offered troubled teenagers a place to stay and then forced them into prostitution, police said.
Kedira Grigsby, 42, who worked at Klein Cain High School, was charged Monday with three counts of child trafficking and three counts of forced prostitution of minors.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the three victims were students and reported runaways ages 15, 16 and 17.
His 21-year-old son, Roger Magee, was arrested on similar charges of child trafficking, sexual assault of a child, and forced prostitution in November 2022.
Responding to the arrest, Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott said, “What some of our educators are doing is criminal and disgusting.”

Police said the Klein Cain High School teacher would allegedly offer students a place to stay, which would be a hotel room, and then force them into prostitution.
He waived his right to appear in court Tuesday and was held on bail at $750,000 with the condition that he be prohibited from contacting the victims, ages 15, 16 and 17.
He added in a social media post: “The state should not force any child to be in a school like this.” And yet, current law does not allow the election to go elsewhere. “I am working to elect state representatives who will change that.”
In court, prosecutors said investigators found text messages between Grigsby and her son – and her son and the victims – discussing payments of prostitution fees through Zelle, reported Click2Houston.
They said Grigsby paid for at least one hotel room where an officer saw a victim enter before running out and getting into the teacher’s car.
Grigsby waived his right to appear in court Tuesday and was held on $750,000 bail with the conditions that he be prohibited from contacting the victims and not have unsupervised interactions with minors, according to Fox 26 Houston.
KTRK reported that more potential victims have come forward alleging that Grigsby attempted to recruit them.
Klein ISD said Grigsby was hired during the 2019-2020 school year and “passed a state background check at that time.”
“As soon as we were notified of this information, the district took immediate action, arresting and immediately placing Ms. Grigsby on administrative leave,” the school district said.
“Klein ISD has NO intention of allowing this individual to return to Klein Cain or any Klein ISD school, and we will inform all appropriate agencies upon conclusion of the investigation.”

According to an ‘About Me’ page of her curriculum, Grigsby said she has more than 17 years of experience in the beauty industry.
