A North Texas assistant principal was airlifted to the hospital after being injured by a student during a “classroom disruption.”
Candra Rogers, assistant principal at Collins Middle School in Corsicana, was flown to a Dallas-area hospital after Thursday’s incident.
The altercation occurred in a classroom with fewer than 10 students present, but authorities have not released details about what caused the injury.
The campus was then placed on “lockdown” status, meaning students were told to remain in their classrooms until officials told them it was safe to leave.
No other students or staff members were in danger, district officials assured parents in a letter from Principal Tiffany Boortz.

The Navarro County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the student had a detention hearing and is now under parental supervision with an ankle monitor, officials said. WFAA.

“We’re just going to wait and let the legal system resolve her case. Hopefully, Ms. Rogers will be okay and back to work soon,” Corsicana ISD spokesman Raymond Lenix said.
Rogers joined the Corsicana district last semester. Her husband, Eugene Rogers, is the head football coach at Corsicana High School.
In a show of support for the Rogers family, the district will hold a Jeans Day fundraiser on Friday.

Suggested donations are $2 for students and $5 for staff members.
“Jeans are often synonymous with comfort and style, but on Friday they will mean more than that. Corsicana ISD staff and students are welcome to wear jeans on Friday as part of normal campus fundraising efforts,” the district said.
