Taylor Swift performed her 2006 hit Mary’s Song for the first time in 16 years when she took to the stage in Amsterdam on Saturday.
The 34-year-old pop star had not performed the song live since 2008, when she gave a rendition at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Now, however, she has reintroduced the song to her repertoire, in a medley with her 2012 single Everything Has Changed and her new song So High School.
When Taylor burst onto the stage with “Mary’s Song” in Amsterdam on Saturday night, fans went wild over its unexpected connection to Taylor’s blossoming romance with NFL heartthrob Travis Kelce.
One of the lyrics has now taken on special meaning because of Taylor’s relationship with Travis, who joined her on stage in Amsterdam that night.

In the song, Taylor sings to the object of her affection: “I’ll be 87, you’ll be 89. I’ll still look at you like the stars that shine in the sky. Oh my God, my God…”
Travis’ number on the Kansas City Chiefs is 87, while Taylor was born in 1989, which is the title of one of his most beloved albums.
Mary’s Song was included on Taylor’s self-titled debut album, which was released in 2016 when she was still a rising teenage country star.
Taylor and Travis delighted the singer’s army of Dutch fans when they left the stage hand in hand on Saturday, which was the final night of their Eras Tour shows in Amsterdam.
The Kansas City Chiefs star reunited with his girlfriend in the Dutch capital on Friday night, having also attended recent shows in London and Dublin during his summer trip to Europe.
Kelce spent Thursday golfing with Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes in London before flying to the Netherlands to support Swift.
Her attendance on Friday night was confirmed when Swift performed “Karma” and sang “Karma is the Chiefs guy,” something she normally only does when Kelce is there.
The tight end was joined by Mahomes and his wife Brittany in their hospitality suite for Saturday’s show, but made sure to be ready at the side of the stage to accompany his girlfriend backstage.
When she performed Mary’s Song on stage in Amsterdam this Saturday night, fans went wild over her unexpected connection to Travis Kelce, who was photographed with her in January.
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were greeted with standing ovations as they left the stage in Amsterdam
Swift had just completed the third and final night of her successful Eras Tour in Amsterdam.
Fans waiting backstage were waiting for the couple walking in front of them and went wild when they finally appeared.
Kelce was cheering on his lover, waving his arms in the air to signal more cheers from the crowd for her.
Holding hands as they walked together, Swift continued to bask in the adoration as she said goodbye to her Dutch fans as she prepared to take her show to another city.
Meanwhile, Mahomes and his wife were spotted in hospitality seats by eagle-eyed Swifties who shared videos of the pair singing and swaying to Swift’s many hits, while Kelce could be seen behind them belting out the lyrics.
At one point, the high school sweethearts shared a sweet and loving moment with Brittany resting her head on her husband’s shoulders.
Brittany also shared a boomerang of herself and a friend beaming as they prepared to head to the concert, before posting a clip of Swift performing her hit, ’22’, with Patrick seemingly singing in the background.
Despite his presence in Amsterdam, there was no repeat of Kelce’s onstage antics at Swift’s Wembley show last month.
She sent London fans wild on the third night of Swift’s sold-out Eras Tour show when she appeared on stage as part of the supporting dance team.
Kelce flew to Amsterdam to see Swift perform on Friday and indulged in some Dutch delicacies.
Kelce was joined in his suite by Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany.
As the crowd of 90,000 screamed, he even lifted Swift off the ground and carried her around the stage.
Kelce first spoke about the viral moment on the New Heights podcast on Wednesday, even hinting that it might not be his last appearance on the tour.
“A big thank you to Tay for letting me sneak onto her stage!” she said. “Who knows, this might not be the last time you see me busting out some amazing moves there.”
‘You guys are just gonna have to keep buying those Eras Tour tickets to see if I magically appear from under the stage or something.’
In response, his brother Jason fired back: “A little teaser, huh? What’s he going to do next? What crazy things is Taylor going to let him do this time?”
Travis replied: ‘Yeah, I warned him. I said, ‘Look, once I get comfortable, I stop following the script and start improvising.’ It’s a Travis thing, you wouldn’t understand.’
Fans immediately took to social media to speculate on when the next appearance might happen, with many believing it would have to be within the next three weeks, before Travis returns to Kansas City to begin training camp ahead of the NFL season.
During the podcast recording, Swift fans were convinced that the singer was in the room with Kelce.
Travis Kelce surprised the crowd at Wembley by appearing on stage with his girlfriend Taylor Swift
At one point, he even carried his girlfriend across the stage in front of 90,000 adoring fans.
The Chiefs tight end appeared to look off camera and smile mid-recording. Eagle-eyed fans noticed Travis’ slight smile and theorized that the Grammy winner was watching him film the show.
“Who are you looking at Trav?” one fan wrote on X alongside a clip of the sweet moment.
“It’s so funny how it’s literally so obvious that he’s checking her out by the way he looks at her and his kind smile,” another responded to the video.
A third wrote: “Okay, normally when people say they’re watching her on the podcast it’s clear to me that they’re not, but this time… they are.”
The loved-up couple is currently enjoying some downtime together between shows on Swift’s tour, but time is ticking and their summer together is coming to an end as the new NFL season approaches.
After Amsterdam, Taylor will move on to Zurich and Milan, before venturing to Germany in mid-July.
Kelce and the Chiefs’ training camp begins July 20, but he is scheduled to return to U.S. soil for the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament from July 10-14.
Following the Lake Tahoe tournament, Kelce will have six days before returning to work, meaning he could return to Europe for shows in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on July 17, 18 and 19.
