Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi Martin, revealed that she has become accustomed to the pressure of her son playing in the Super Bowl.
Mahomes has led the Kansas City Chiefs to their fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years this season and the quarterback will look to clinch his third ring against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Most mothers would be very nervous watching their son perform on football’s biggest stage, but Randi admitted she’s gotten used to the experience while speaking to DailyMail.com on the NFL Honors red carpet.
“I’m used to it, but it’s always a little different,” she said. ‘But we are making this a habit in our family.
“We plan to go to New Orleans next year, let’s keep it up.”
Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi, spoke to DailyMail.com at the NFL Honors on Thursday.
She talked about her quarterback son playing in his fourth Super Bowl with the Chiefs.
Despite the importance of the occasion, her son doesn’t let the pressure get to him either, and Randi reveals she’s taking his advice.
“He’s just living in the moment,” he said. ‘I tell him to stop, relax and enjoy it.
“I told him the first year and I said, enjoy it, this might be your only time and he said, ‘no, it’s not.’ And I said, ‘No, but it really could be.’
‘Well, this is one time I can say my son proved me wrong. You know, this is our fourth time and let’s move on.’
While it’s not the Mahomes’ first Super Bowl rodeo, this year there will be a new addition to their big-game experience.
Taylor Swift, the girlfriend of Mahomes’ friend and teammate Travis Kelce, is expected to return from her Eras Tour in Tokyo to support her NFL boyfriend in Las Vegas on Sunday.
The pop star has become fast friends with Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, and has sat alongside the family in VIP suites at 12 games this season.
And Randi said the 14-time Grammy winner has fit right in with Chiefs Kingdom.
Randi said Taylor Swift ‘fits perfectly’ with Chiefs amid relationship with Travis Kelce
“It’s crazy, but at the same time it’s our new life and, you know, we just move on and take it day by day,” Randi said of the attention Swift’s appearances have attracted. “She fits right in and is cheering like all of us.”
However, Mahomes has had to keep his focus on the NFL matchup amid some negative headlines this week.
The father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes Sr., 53, was arrested by the Tyler Police Department for at least his third DWI Saturday night in Texas.
Mahomes Sr. was held in the Smith County Jail on $10,000 bond. The 6’4 former professional baseball pitcher slept in jail overnight and bonded out on Sunday.
Randi said they were dealing with the incident by “sticking together as a family.”
The 53-year-old father of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was arrested by the Tyler Police Department for at least his third DWI Saturday night in Texas.
Patrick Mahomes declined to speak about his father’s recent arrest for drunk driving on the opening night of the Super Bowl.
Earlier in the week, the caller also remained quiet when asked about his father during media availability.
“I can’t go into that too much, but I want to say that it’s fine in any situation,” the soccer star said.
‘It’s a family matter, so I’ll leave it to the family. That’s all I’m going to say right now.’
Bail documents have confirmed that Mahomes Sr will be able to travel to Las Vegas to watch the Chiefs this weekend, but he will have to remain sober and will not be able to drink liquor while partying in the VIP box.
