A strong cold front moving across the country will keep temperatures cool over the weekend.

A strong cold front moving across the country will keep temperatures low throughout the weekend.

A cold front is moving towards southern Australia and will bring some showers and thunderstorms, mainly along coastal areas, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

The system will extend across Victoria and New South Wales this weekend, but will not be as intense as previous cold fronts and will not extend far inland.

As for the winds hitting the south-east of the country, particularly the central coast of New South Wales, conditions should begin to improve from Thursday afternoon.

“A low pressure system over the Tasman Sea is causing strong winds on the New South Wales coast and gusts in south-east Queensland,” Weatherzone meteorologist Yoska Hernandez told Daily Mail Australia.

‘Today, those gusty winds around Sydney will begin to ease in the afternoon and weaken further to light winds tomorrow.’

Frost is expected to hit wide areas from central Queensland to southern Victoria, as well as southern Western Australia on Friday morning.
