Nicaraguan migrant David Davon-Bonilla denounced

A woman was raped at knifepoint by two suspected immigrants over the weekend on the Coney Island boardwalk in New York.

The unprovoked attack reportedly took place outside a hotel housing asylum seekers on Sunday around 9 p.m. and has since resulted in the arrest of suspected Nicaraguan migrant David Davon-Bonilla, 24, and Mexican national Leovando Moreno, 37.

The victim, an unnamed 46-year-old woman from out of town, was with her boyfriend when the attack occurred along the famous trail, police said, revealing that the crime occurred at Surf Avenue and 16th Street.

Moreno is said to have struck the 34-year-old man with an unidentified object during the chaos as he tried to save his partner. Also unidentified, he refused medical attention at the scene, officials said.

Meanwhile, the woman was allegedly raped by Davon-Bonilla, who is charged with first-degree rape, second-degree assault, first-degree sexual abuse, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

Mexican Leovando Moreno, 37, reported

Nicaraguan migrant David Davon-Bonilla, 24, and Mexican Leovardo Moreno, 37, were handcuffed Sunday after Davon-Bonilla allegedly raped a 46-year-old tourist who was nearby. Moreno defended himself from the woman’s boyfriend while the rape was taking place, police said.

The unprovoked attack reportedly took place outside a hotel housing asylum seekers on Sunday around 9 p.m. in Coney Island, right on this stretch of street adjacent to the famous boardwalk.

Moreno was charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon after defending himself from the man while the rape was taking place.

Law enforcement sources who spoke with Davon-Bonilla identified Davon-Bonilla as a Nicaraguan migrant. The New York Postafter police confirmed he had a prior arrest for sexual abuse for allegedly assaulting a 34-year-old woman in Brooklyn last year.

Sources told the Post he once lived in a La Quinta hotel on Third Avenue, which also became a shelter for migrants amid the influx of new arrivals.

That was the case at the hotel near the crime scene, which is just a few meters from the Brooklyn Cyclones baseball stadium and the famous first location of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs.

The street is usually packed with locals and tourists, and both men were arrested shortly after parting ways with the couple, still near the seafront.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the New York Police Department for more information as both men were due to be arraigned sometime on Monday.

Sources familiar with the matter who spoke to the Post said the woman was taken to Coney Island Hospital following the ordeal she and her boyfriend endured, where she was said to be in stable condition.

The incident occurred just a few feet from the Brooklyn Cyclones baseball stadium and Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs, also on Surf Avenue. According to insiders who spoke to the New York Post, both men were immigrants, but police have only said they are homeless.

Her condition was unknown until Monday. She was apparently forced to lie on the ground during the attack.

All of this happened while Davon-Bonilla held a knife to her throat, before raping her as her helpless boyfriend and alleged accomplice watched, cops said.

At the time of writing, the incident is still under investigation and further details are expected to be revealed in court.

Insiders who spoke to the New York Post said both suspects were immigrants, but police have not yet confirmed that.

The New York Police Department did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for more information on Monday.
